Rachael's music has often been described as a deep look into specific aspects of real life. It ranges from comedic to heart wrenching. She offers all this with a passionate and warm voice and a beautiful, rhythmic guitar accompaniment.

Biography

As comfortable with a fiddle as she is with a guitar, the main thing that makes Rachael Taylor’s music so interesting is her originality and imagination. She has a unique way of presenting stories that truly draws in each listener. Her songs run the range of human expression—often humorous and witty, she occasionally throws in a song that is breathtakingly poignant. From folksy blues to haunting ballads, she takes an audience on a cathartic ride of life’s experiences.
Born and bred in Detroit, Taylor’s musical journey encompasses everything from touring Europe at age 16 as a member of an international symphony to years playing with a Celtic band. Her first album, “Fix My Guitar,” includes the original title song, based on a real-life St. Patrick’s Day experience: “After setting my guitar down for a few seconds while I went to fetch my fiddle in a Detroit venue, I returned to discover (every musician’s nightmare) that a fight had broken out.…ON MY GUITAR!” She was able to take this personally “catastrophic” event and write one of her most requested and funny songs, “Fix My Guitar.”
In the fall of 2007, several of Taylor’s songs were featured on the Irish Radio Program: WNZK 690/680 AM - Detroit, MI. Outside the Detroit area, in such musical meccas as Nashville and New Orleans, the talented musician/composer’s performances have been extremely well accepted and she has plans to accept invitations for return engagements.
At this point in her career, she is focused on live performance and appears at an eclectic variety of venues. She loves to travel, having visited 16 countries, living for a year and half in a former Soviet country, and studying for years in Germany, so driving long distances and meeting new friends is always welcomed. She’s energetic, uplifting, entertaining, and very talented—a fresh, genuine voice. Though not yet out of her 30’s, she’s been a musician for nearly 30 years and is looking forward to hearing from you!

Not in Vain

Written By: Rachael Taylor

Not in Vain

We were always fighting, as all siblings do
But even as children, I looked up to you
Then one day I noticed a difference in you
And then you marched off to war

And you will never know
Just how much you touch my soul
Every time I speak of your name
Brother, your life was not in vain

You were born to be a soldier, that you had found
I never heard your mother, crying so loud
I’d never seen your father stand quite so proud
As you marched off to war

And you will never know
Just how much you touch their souls
Every time they speak of your name
Son, your life was not in vain

You soon fell in love, and made her your bride
She gave you a daughter, and stood by your side
The first time you saw her, you broke down and cried
And then you marched back to war

And you will never know
Just how much you touch her soul
Every time she speaks of your name
Daddy, your life was not in vain

You lead your soldiers into Iraq
You carried them safely, you protected their backs
You marched in so bravely, such a leader at that
But you never marched back

And you will never know
Just how much you touch their souls
Every time they speak of your name
Sergeant, your life was not in vain

And you will never know
Just how much you touch my soul
Every time I speak of your name
Brother, your life was not in vain
Michael, It’ll never be the same

What You're Thinking Of

Written By: Rachael Taylor

I liked you, before I knew your name
Well now I know, and I like you just the same
I saw you standing in the rain
Would you mind if I came along your way

Could it be, could it be love
Come tell me now, what you’re thinking of.

I think of you both day and night
I try to stop, but this urge I just can’t fight
You’re in world so far away from me
Wherever you are, that’s where I want to be

Could it be, could it be love
Come tell me now, what you’re thinking of.

It seems a dream to be there by your side
But when I’m yours, well then, you’ll be mine
I don’t know what life is all about
Won’t you take my hand, come and help me out

Could it be, could it be love
Come tell me now, what you’re thinking of.
