Bio

As comfortable with a fiddle as she is with a guitar, the main thing that makes Rachael Taylor’s music so interesting is her originality and imagination. She has a unique way of presenting stories that truly draws in each listener. Her songs run the range of human expression—often humorous and witty, she occasionally throws in a song that is breathtakingly poignant. From folksy blues to haunting ballads, she takes an audience on a cathartic ride of life’s experiences.
Born and bred in Detroit, Taylor’s musical journey encompasses everything from touring Europe at age 16 as a member of an international symphony to years playing with a Celtic band. Her first album, “Fix My Guitar,” includes the original title song, based on a real-life St. Patrick’s Day experience: “After setting my guitar down for a few seconds while I went to fetch my fiddle in a Detroit venue, I returned to discover (every musician’s nightmare) that a fight had broken out.…ON MY GUITAR!” She was able to take this personally “catastrophic” event and write one of her most requested and funny songs, “Fix My Guitar.”
In the fall of 2007, several of Taylor’s songs were featured on the Irish Radio Program: WNZK 690/680 AM - Detroit, MI. Outside the Detroit area, in such musical meccas as Nashville and New Orleans, the talented musician/composer’s performances have been extremely well accepted and she has plans to accept invitations for return engagements.
At this point in her career, she is focused on live performance and appears at an eclectic variety of venues. She loves to travel, having visited 16 countries, living for a year and half in a former Soviet country, and studying for years in Germany, so driving long distances and meeting new friends is always welcomed. She’s energetic, uplifting, entertaining, and very talented—a fresh, genuine voice. Though not yet out of her 30’s, she’s been a musician for nearly 30 years and is looking forward to hearing from you!
