Rachael Wright began her creative pilgrimage playing the bars and cafes of Liverpool. Starting out as an acoustic act, inspired by heroes such as Suzanne Vega and Gemma Hayes, she acquired an enthusiastic following and graced many a folk club/yoga festival/church hall stage.

Rachael self released her debut album on the same night as supporting the Blind Boys of Alabama at the Liverpool Philharmonic. Spencer Leigh of BBC Radio Merseyside promptly nabbed a copy and promoted it via the airwaves, declaring the track 'Losing Heaven' to be "...one of the best songs to come out of Liverpool in a long time..."

Whilst achieving a first class degree in music at the renowned Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, Rachael began to develop her artistic expression and influences, getting hooked on Sleater Kinney, PJ Harvey and Nick Cave. This led her to record two exploratory EPs, experimenting with new instrumentation and gigging with a full, electric band the length and breadth of the UK.

Recently, Rachael has begun work on a new body of work that incorporates a feisty, brooding expression with subject matter that is increasingly 'outward' looking. Recent subjects have included civil wars in Libya and the DRC and slave labour in the diamond trade.

She is currently rehearsing this material with a new band and is set to record a demo in Feb 2012.
