Lyrics

If Only

Written By: Rachel Avonne

The other night we got held up,
You were so pitiful; I wanted to stay by your side.
We live apart, separate lives,
These crazy situations keep manifesting, why?

And then you had to ask, “Where were you ten years ago?”
You got me thinking, if only we had met back then.

Then you would be my Huckleberry Finn,
And I would be the one to tuck you in.
And life would be our curious adventure,
The world would be our oyster,
If only we had me back then.

We say goodbye, text all the way home,
Before I turn the key I’m feeling alone.
I’d stay all night in the back of your car,
Dangerous and juvenile, the risk doesn’t matter at all.

And then we talk business, and then we share our kisses,
And then we share our day, I’m complete until you drive away.

Then you would be my Huckleberry Finn,
And I would be the one to tuck you in.
And life would be our curious adventure,
The world would be our oyster,
If only we had me back then.

CHORUS:
If only, if only,
If only we had met back then.
If only, if only,
If only we had met back then.

And then you had to ask, “Where were you ten years ago?”
You got me thinking, if only we had met back then.

Then you would be my Huckleberry Finn,
And I would be the one to tuck you in.
And life would be our curious adventure,
The world would be our oyster,
If only we had me back then.

CHORUS:
If only, if only,
If only we had met back then.
If only, if only,
If only we had met back then.

Utopia

Written By: Rachel Avonne

Utopia, utopia, utopia
Exists when I close my eyes

Skies are blue and grass is green
In this world of make-believe
Rainbows dancing overheard with prism light
Children laugh they chase the wind
In this land of pretend
Picture perfect as it all may seem

CHORUS
Utopia exists when I shut my eyes
Utopia exists when I close my eyes

Twenty years and I still here
Not a little girl with a lonely tear
Everything has changed except my name
I’ll play in the garden while I’m still young
Surround myself with songs unsung
I’ll be unique, I’ll be magic
I’ll love myself

BRIDGE
I cannot stay in this dream
Do you believe? Do you believe
If you do then join me tonight
‘Cause I’ll be back in...

CHORUS (Repeat)

When I close my eyes

Build A Wall

Written By: Rachel Avonne

Loveliness it seems
Is only in my dreams
I found a little piece
But it’s not enough for me
This burning in my mind
Is so cruel to be kind
Makes me warm inside
Until I start to cry
I’ve got to...

CHORUS 1
Build a wall around my heart
So you won’t see it breaking
I’ve got to keep my feet on the ground
So you won’t know I’m falling
I’ve got to say a little prayer
To help me now
Forgive my weakness Lord
And show me how
To build a wall around my heart
Build a wall around my heart

I keep losing my ground
I keep on falling down
I should be roaming free
But the caged bird doesn’t sing
Under a lover’s spell
But we can never tell
The footprints of our trace
The heat of our embrace
I’ve got to...

CHORUS 2
Build a wall around my heart
So you won’t see it breaking
I’ve got to plant my feet on the ground
So you won’t know I’m falling
I’ve got to say a little prayer
To help me now
Forgive my weakness Lord
And show me how
To build a wall around my heart
Build a wall around my heart

INTERLUDE
I’ve got to build a wall
I’ve got to build a wall around my heart

BRIDGE
Every day I feel that time is fleeting
These lines on my face appear
And the clock is ticking
These tears I’ve pushed aside
But inside I start to cry
I’ve got to...

CHORUS 1

Build a wall around my heart

I’ve got to build a wall
I’ve got to build a wall around my heart

When Will I Ever Find the Time

Written By: Rachel Avonne

So and so lives down the lane
But he never passes by here
Don’t even know his name
Behind closed doors
I sit and wait
But what it’s for I couldn’t tell you
And it’s getting late
Somehow I’m reminded
Of that little old man
Who lived in books and dreams
And died in blood and sand

CHORUS
And I really want to live my life
Fly high above the pain
But when will I ever find the time
I really want to live my life
Stop reading magazines
And how will I ever find the time

The list goes on
The Book unopened still
Been talking to my Momma
To the point of being ill
The Man upstairs
Just a name in church
But I get a slight reminder
Of what those prayers are for
Is it courage or faith?
Or a grade I missed in school?
Or a class I dropped out of?
When will I ever learn the rules?

CHORUS (Repeat)

His World

Written By: Rachel Avonne

His world is a world where I can never go
He’s king of it all, head of his home
He’s the keeper of his soul

And his heart is a heart I’d give anything to hold
‘Cause he touches me, let’s me know
There’s such a thing as love after all

His world is a world I can just imagine
He’s gentle in nature, laughs and he plays
He’s brilliant in his ways

And his heart is a heart I’d give anything to hold
His lady I’d be, we’d live in dignity
And I would make his house a home

CHORUS
‘Cause he pulled me out of the dark
And he showed me life can be something really good yeah
He believes in me but I’m in too deep
His world isn’t mine and it never will be
His world is a world, doesn’t belong to me

Should I be strong? Should I be wise?
It’s best for my secret to keep
When I taste his lips, when I long for him
My body goes weak

Just be friends how this ends, he’ll never belong to me
This man and his world goes on like before
While I find a way to put him out of my mind

CHORUS

BRIDGE
Where can I go? Who can I see?
His presence is haunting
The way that he moves me, the way that he cares
I want more than my share

His world is a world where I can never go
His world isn’t mine and it never will be
His world is a world, doesn’t belong to me
