Rachel Baker

I have a rich folk tone to my singing, and my guitar playing incorporates a little bit of classic rock while still maintaining those "true to your heart" folk melodies. My voice is one that will hit you right where you want it to.

I was born and raised in Trenton, South Carolina, out in the middle of nowhere. I come from a long line of musicians and singers, so I have music flowing in my veins. I have been playing guitar since I was 14, and I started singing as soon I could talk. I grew up listening to Carly Simon, James Taylor, Patsy Cline, and Joni Mitchell...just to name a few. I followed my childhood roots and started singing with a folky, almost yodel sound. I've managed to learn to yodel and scream my head off like Jeff Buckley while still keeping my vocal training in mind. I'm not your typical performer. I intend to be a "performer" not an "entertainer."

Set List

My set lists I have performed so far usually lasted about half an hour and include aoubt 6-8 songs, but I have enough material to fill up at least an hour. My song list includes most of my own material: "Singing Lullaby," That's How," "Something Better," "You," "Walk Away." I also do a lot of covers from a new artist, Brandi Carlile. I can also do Stevie Nicks's "Landslide," Elton John's "Sixty Years On," and others. Typically, my covers consist of new artists, like Brandi, but I also do older rock.
