Bio

Rachel Olivia Brett is a 21 year old singer/songwriter from Missouri who has lived in several states and cities large and small from Washington DC to small town Mississippi. She now calls Los Angeles home and loves living in the City of Angels.  Her music has always been a way for her to connect with people where ever she lived. Her sound is described as Taylor Swift meets Avril Lavigne because it is a blend of heartfelt lyrics with an edgy pop vibe. As many songwriters she has been writing poems and songs since she was a young child.  She has notebooks full of the songs she has written over the past  years. She taught herself to play guitar at about ten  years old and starting putting melodies with her lyrics in all those notebooks. As people heard her original songs they asked her to perform at various venues including Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede Pre-Show, Dick Clark's Area 57 and Silver Dollar City in Branson Missouri.  At age 13 she recorded her first EP of all original music at the historic Ardent Studios in Memphis Tennessee where she played guitar on every song. Working with producer Jason Latshaw at Ardent   along with incredible musicians including RocknRoll Hall of Fame drummer Stevie Potts and  lead guitarist Jack Holder she learned so much as she worked hard with them to bring her music from her notebooks to life.. Rachel toured across the Midwest and Deep South with performances including Six Flags Great America in Chicago; CMA Week showcase at the Limelight in Nashville  and the Hard Rock Cafe in Biloxi Beach. After her move to Los Angeles she continued to refine a new more edgy sound. She won Best Performer at the West Coast  Songwriters Association and her original song "Liar" was nominated for the Pop Single of the year by the Hollywood Music in Media Association. Rachel was accepted as a member of the Recording Academy(Grammys) at the age of 16. This honor motivated her  to work hard to refine her music and  she was  also hired to write original compositions for two films..one a full length movie and one a short film.   Rachel  then went back in the studio to record  a new album with producer Matt Richards from Hope Studios  in Kansas City that had a more techno/rock sound. She released "Not Just Another EP" in 2015 to rave reviews.  The next year this versatile songwriter  began work on new  music with a different direction in her sound to a more  Contemporary Christian sound.  In 2017 Rachel is now tackling more exciting challenges in her music with her first efforts to write a rock opera.
