Biography

Born and raised in Rochester, New York, Rachel Carrozziere exchanged her Yankee ways for the rolling hills of Tennessee in August 2003 to pursue her dreams of claiming the Nashville stage. From her mother’s hummed-Broadway melodies to her father’s high school boy band revelries, Rachel’s childhood was saturated with musical influences. “If we were not listening to the Beatles, we were listening to Simon and Garfunkel,” Rachel reflects, “The car radio was permanently programmed to the Oldies station.” Her cousins also shared a love for music and the stage; thus every holiday became a chance for them to sing, dance, and perform to the muffled amusement of their relatives.
After her ambitions for the stage led her to obtain a BA in Musical Theater from Hope College, Rachel joined a musical duo entitled, thursdaytheory. The group moved to Nashville upon graduation, made an EP, toured within the Midwest, and parted ways in January 2006. Thursdaytheory’s split catapulted Rachel’s decision to pursue a solo career. Teaming up with ERP, Rachel went into the studio with producer, Eric Reason, this past summer and emerged in December 2006 with her debut, full length album, Just for Today. Rachel states that the CD’s title reflects this past year and her struggle to live one day at a time, being completely in the moment and leaving tomorrow’s worries a day away.

Manna

Written By: Rachel Carrozziere

Manna

Vs I
Raindrops wake me up in the morning. The down pour lulled me to sleep
This new day appears harmlessly gray, but the butterflies won’t away
Each step of faith removes my doubts makes me gold, gold, so I’m told

Chorus
Manna is only for today;
Ebenezer stones mark my way reminding me
That though I don’t know what to say
I’m promised this manna’s enough for today

Vs II
Candy coated dreams of tomorrow kept me from yesterday’s sun
I know I stand too far away, not close enough to see today
Three score and ten allows, me to stand, only stand, here and now

Chorus
Manna is only for today;
Ebenezer stones mark my way reminding me
That though I don’t know what to say
I’m promised this manna’s enough for today

Bridge
When the sky is falling, falling, you’re enough, you’re enough
Pressured on every side but I’m not crushed
Perplexed but not despairing, so I’m told, so I’m told
This confusion’s overwhelming. Empty, I’m left depending
That you will be enough

Blackbird

Blackbird

Verse I
Blackbird, where are you going?
Can’t you see your cage?
But you sing your song as though I’ve never heard it before
Blackbird, why are you crying?
When I’m the one with tears
Don’t you know this song of yours; I’ve heard it all before
Melancholy maybe but I’m here
And I’ll stay till the grey clears
Because your melody is haunting me

Chorus
Keep singing Remind me
Keep singing Remind me
Keep singing Remind me
Keep singing Remind me
Blackbird

Verse II
You hold promise of a key
Blackbird come find me
And I will sing along as though I never have before
Melancholy maybe but I’m here
And I’ll stay till the grey clears
Because your melody is haunting me

Chorus
Keep singing Remind me
Keep singing Remind me
Keep singing Remind me
Keep singing Remind me
Blackbird

Bridge
Because so quickly I forget
How quickly I forget

Chorus
Keep singing Remind me
Keep singing Remind me
Keep singing Remind me
Keep singing Remind me

Dance With Me

DANCE WITH ME

Verse 1
Young girl of five in a sunflower dress, ready to go in Sunday best
Mommy’s shadow Daddy’s date ready to dance till the clock strikes late
Thirteen and awkward a wallflower at best, no middle school romance to profess
Whispered name, shuffled feet, offered his hand, her heart skipped a beat
He said

Chorus
Dance with me, here’s my hand, take the floor, promise we’ll spin, twirl, and soar
Follow my lead, look in my eyes can’t you see the reason I’m asking you to
Dance with me

Verse II
He took her breath away and didn’t have to try, just walked in with puppy brown eyes
Not a word, a grin met her glance and with a smile he teased to romance
Saying

Chorus
Dance with me, here’s my hand, take the floor, promise we’ll spin, twirl, and soar
Follow my lead, look in my eyes can’t you see the reason I’m asking you to
Dance with me

Bridge
Dance with me

Chorus
Dance with me, here’s my hand, take the floor, promise we’ll spin, twirl, and soar
Follow my lead, look in my eyes can’t you see the reason I’m asking you to
Dance with me

Chorus
Dance with me, here’s my hand, take the floor, promise we’ll spin, twirl, and soar
Follow my lead, look in my eyes can’t you see the reason I’m asking you to
Dance with me
