Biography

22 year old singer-songwriter, Rachel Cearns has been making her mark on the Adelaide music scene for the past 2 years, performing her blend of acoustic ambient electronica in venues across the city. In 2011, Rachel began fronting her own band, debuting the new sound in March 2011 for the Adelaide Fringe Festival in a captivating performance at The Promethean.
Throughout 2011, Rachel has continued to play solo in front bars across Adelaide, making a living as a musician while experimenting on the side with what direction she wanted to take her band in. In October 2011 she played a full band show, debuting some heavier songs she had been working on, drawing influence from bands such as Led Zeppelin and Them Crooked Vultures. This new sound was so well received and felt like a sure move in the right direction for the experimental songstress. Rachel Cearns has continued recording humble bedroom demos (playing and programming all instruments), marrying together the delicate sweetness of her beloved influence Joni Mitchell with her hunger for high-energy, dynamic rock- also drawing influence from Led Zeppelin, Soundgarden and Them Crooked Vultures.
Rachel Cearns is a name to start watching. With both intimate solo shows booked and a dynamic live rock band behind her, plus plans to enter the studio with a bunch of new tunes, 2012 is going to be a big year..
