Bio
A jazz vocalist who combines a flair for phrasing with insightful emotion, Rachel Charson has captured the attention of Chicago jazz listeners. Working primarily from the American Songbook, her song stylings are reminiscent of the swing era, and have caught the ear of many Chicago musicians and audiences. Rachel has shared stages with jazz veterans such as Von Freeman, Franz Jackson and Wallace Burton. She has been featured at The Chicago Theatre as part of the inaugural 2007 festival “Looptopia�, and at the Chicago Cultural Center for “Looptopia†2008. In addition, Ms. Charson can be seen performing at clubs in the Chicago area.
From swing to torch, Charson’s musical interpretations are breathtaking and true to the classics, yet truly her own style. She learned her craft from artists who built Chicago into the jazz center that it is today, and is continuing the tradition with her own stylings.
