Shadows

Written By: Rachel Dawick

There was a time when you and I made trouble wherever we went, those were the times i enjoyed the most. Our parents had a plan, two lives and a map that would set out our whole route, but yours looked so different to mine that day. So where was the moment when you and I struggled alone and made plans to escape, we were so young you could say to do anymore. And I know that i sit up facing the night and not seeing how things fell apart, blinded by years that stand between your life and mine. And I thought that you were just fooling around like you did so often before, well i guess i was wrong.
Are those memories gone or can you see me clearly when all lie fast asleep. The silence outside brings you and i together again. A myriad of dreams adventures explored we were masters of all crime, ready to do what others had left far behind. So where was the moment when you and i struggled alone and made plans to escape? We were so young you could say to do anymore. But i know that i sit up facing the night and not seeing how things fell apart. Blinded by years that stand between your life and mine. And I thought that you were just fooling around like you did so often before, well i guess i was wrong. So tell me, how does it feel? Are you with me on this night? Are those shadows that surround me now just reflections of your mind.

Empty Pockets

Written By: Rachel Dawick

Empty faces at the window, shadowed mist falls outside. Scattered leaves on broken pathways, catch the last rays of sun. Drifting thoughts to other places, cling to far away times. The cough of a woman breaks the silence, we've empty pockets to fill my love to fill, we've empty pockets to fill.

Majestic hills cling to raw horizons, fragrant blue shades the sky. Heavy boots on tired faces forge their way through the land. Bringing dreams of new beginnins, leaving loved ones behind, Clearing out from smoggy cities, to a land that is free my love is free, to a land that is free.

So hear the land as it draws you closer, feel the beat of its heart. Soon there'll be no more places to run to for your tearing us apart. Where's the freedom that you talked of? When will your pockets be full? Stay with your loved one and hear the silence and a mind that is free my love is free, and a mind that is free.

The busker

Written By: Rachel Dawick

Silent eyes on busy faces watch the man as he takes his bag and lays it down, on that cold yet familiar ground. See him smiling to himself as he picks up his stand chord in hand and sets the stage, ready to earn an honest wage. For he's the man, who knows how to please and draw a crowd, hold their minds for a little while, breathing life on that corner street. Come watch the man playing those songs like the world's his own, making memories from cobbled stones adding thoughts to this old walk home.

Drifting thoughts to other places hold his face as he sets the scene in foreign lands holding those that are ready to dream. See him gently guide us through unfamiliar skies sword in hand we make our way, ready to believe in all that he says. For he's the man who knows how to please and draw a crowd, hold their minds for a little while, breathing life in that corner street. Come watch the man playing those songs like the worlds his own making memories from cobbled stones, adding thoughts to this old walk home.

Majestic hills cling to raw horizons fragrant blue shades the sky as we walk along, tossing a coin for another song. Keep that entertainer there for he's the one that we need to keep the peace for a while as the world hurries on by. For he's the man who knows how to please and draw a crowd hold their minds for a little while, bringing life to that corner street. Come watch the man playing those songs like the world's his own making memories from cobbled stones, adding thoughts to this old walk home.
