"Rachel Farley is the Real Deal!"

Rachel Farley is the Real Deal

Rachel Farley, an artist I wrote about only a couple of weeks ago, is in town this weekend to take meetings - as part of her trip she came down to Tootsie's to perform a few songs.

Rachel is the real deal.

I don't know at what point as an artist you 'tip' into the direction of having stage command, vocal ability, poise, and gratitude - but Rachel has them all down pat. She created a crowd out of thin air - as most people were downstairs watching the band act. But there they were, one after the other. With each new song came more people - louder clapping, whistles, yelps.

The guy who is the 'host' (I suppose he's the regular entertainment there) must've liked what he heard and saw. She was supposed to sing 4 songs. She sang 6. He even asked Rachel to stick around for a little while and come back on stage later. When she'd finished her second mini-set, he asked her to play 2 more songs!

You can't 'create' talent and stage presence. Well, you can, but it's difficult to make someone do something they aren't naturally comfortable at. I would not make a good mathmatician, though I can add. Rachel just seems to come by singing and performing naturally. She's also writing songs and building those chops.

This all may not sound like much to you, but you've got to take into consideration how old she is (for that information, visit her myspace). Quite simply, I've said numerous times, even on site here, I'm against girls her age being in country music. But if there ever was a true old soul country singer born simply to perform, it's Rachel Farley. Can't get much more of a better endorsement out of me.

Since being on NashvilleHype! a couple of really cool things have happened for Rachel. First, the day of the article she got four new bookings and two days later another. Add to that her 'friends' on Myspace - it doubled. Also I know for a fact that several people in the industry are taking a serious look (that's where the meetings this weekend come in), and more news should be forthcoming.

Bio

Rachel played shows with just her voice and guitar for 2 years. In that 2 years she played over 250 shows. She has played small rooms of 100 people all the way up to 5000 at Atlanta's Wild Bills. She is a well respected songwriter in the Atlanta area who keeps good company with cowriters such as Mike Dekle, Byron Hill, and Brantley Gilbert.

Rachel's influences are Patsy Cline, Pink, Jason Aldean, Brantley Gilbert and Miranda Lambert.

This band has the unique sound of Rachel Farleys classic country but very soulful voice combined with a rocking country band. The band has a country music drummer, an 80's rock feel lead guitarist and a bass player that came from a metal band. These musicians came together and formed a country rock sound that is very much where todays country music is heading.

Rachel Farley has been included on background vocals for Brantley Gilberts single, Kick it in the Sticks and recently recorded a song with Colt Ford. Rachel is definately creating a buzz in the country music world.

In 2009 Rachel cowrote a song with GA's David Greer to benefit the American Cancer Society. The CD sold over 25,000 copies and was played on radio stations across the US. The CD was produced by Shawn Mullins.
