Bio
Born in the small city of Albany, GA, Rachel Mansfield was surrounded by music from an early age; her grandfather could play just about any instrument without ever having lessons (including the spoons) and could tune a piano solely by ear. Rachel grew up singing with her mother and sister in church but was always drawn to soulful gospel tunes as opposed to traditonal hymns. At a young age, she was reprimanded for singing a rendition of Amazing Grace in church that was labeled as "too soulful", forcing her to believe she should be less expressive while singing. But as she got older she drew inspiration from fellow Albany Native, the great Ray Charles, and began to sing what was in her heart rather than what others told her she should sing. As a result, Rachel has not only gained confidence, but a sound that she puts her entire heart and soul into. With an upcoming move to Nashville, TN and debut EP release slated for 2014, Rachel is positioning herself to be a voice that will not be soon forgetten.
