"Springfield Native Rachel Millman Brings Her Music To The World"

Springfield resident Rachel Millman is no stranger to the stage. She graced Jonathan Dayton High School with her magnificent voice and acting skills. Now she's taking her talent to new heights as she ventures into the entertainment industry after graduating from Penn State University.

Her debut EP, "If I Believe," was released earlier this year. Available on iTunes and other online retailers, the five songs showcase Millman's vocal range and ability to carry a tune.

Millman's debut five song EP "If I Believe" was released in Nov. 2008 and went live on iTunes on September of this year. In this short time, Millman has performed at Arlene's Grocery, the Duplex in NYC, Kids at Heart and elsewhere throughout NJ and NY. She's scheduled to perform February 10 at Montefiore Children's Hospital in the Bronx as part of the well respected non profit music initiative Musicians on Call.

Most recently, Millman and her team headed to Boston to shoot a music video for her debut single Throwin' Rocks at The Moon. Although the song was already recorded, an acoustic version was arranged in conjunction with Brandeis University's acapella group VoiceMale. The track is already up and getting hits on Millman's website, and the video is scheduled to premiere on YouTube January 11, 2010! It's a lot for a young professional to deal with, but it's exactly what Rachel has been waiting for.

"I'm looking forward to 2010 being a very successful year," Millman said. "I'm so excited for my 'Throwin' Rocks' video to come out and looking forward to my music continuing to get airplay and attention!"

We hope so too! Her sound is crisp and fun, mixed with passion and rock. She's a fresh face and sound for 2010 and we're wishing her the best of luck (and hoping for an autograph too!)

"The New Matisyahu"

Asher Roth and Andy Samberg have hit the entertainment industry with a bang, leaving Jewish girls everywhere wondering when a Jewish female pop artist will strike back.
Enter Rachel Millman, a Jewish musician from New Jersey who released her first album on September first, entitled “If I Believe.”

Her carefree style recalls Michelle Branch with a touch of John Mayer’s lyrics. Her poetic language addresses life’s struggles and coping with loss. Her perseverance echoes through her entire album, emerging in a verse of her song “Throwin’ Rocks At The Moon:”

“Seems like things might never be right/ ‘Til I’m with you again.
I let you go s’true you don’t know/ What you’ve got ‘til it ends”

Aside from her unique lyrics, Millman shows off a three-octave range, something she connects with her Jewish upbringing.

“My vocal abilities come from my grandfather so it was always inspiring and exciting to hear him sing along and to chant the Kiddush every Friday night,“ Millman said.

“Throwin’ Rocks At The Moon” addresses the importance of cherishing what we have before it is gone.

“He really inspired me to just always be singing no matter what the song was,” she said. “A song was always in his head and heart and he instilled that in me as well.”

"JAMS: New Music Rachel Millman"

Rachel’s decision to once again follow her dreams has her releasing the EP If I Believe. Rachel Millman is ready to try again. The singer recently graduated from college with a degree from Penn State when aspirations of being a pop star started floating back into this New Jersey native’s mind.

As a high-school teenager, Rachel was on track toward becoming a professional singer. She sang the national anthem at professional sporting games, tried out for American Idol (but the producers didn’t even listen to her audition) and recorded demos in L.A. with producer Brian Reeves. Though she continued to train her voice for four years, she never performed on stage. But once she graduated, she realized how much she missed Ballads are the main note of the album, with the single “Throwin’ Rocks At The Moon” showing off Rachel’s powerful vocal range. We especially love “Waiting For Someday,” with an acoustic guitar complimenting the delicate tone of Rachel’s voice. Fans of early Mandy Moore ballads will enjoy the vibe of the record.

RISING INDIE ARTIST RACHEL MILLMAN EARNS RAVE REVIEWS FOR DEBUT SINGLE “THROWIN’ ROCKS AT THE MOON” AND CD…IF I BELIEVE

Momentum Builds As Additional Recordings and Live Performances Are Slated for 2010

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 13, 2010

New York, New York

Up and coming indie-pop artist Rachel Millman is being touted as an engaging young vocalist with a beautiful voice and a big future. Her debut CD IF I BELIEVE is garnering national media attention.

A classic melodic pop/rock song with intensely romantic and poetic lyrics, “Throwin’ Rocks at the Moon” highlights Rachel’s crisp three octave range. Her enchanting vocals, along with the song’s arrangement and production, are cinematic in scope while keeping the power-pop sound connected with Top 40 radio. The sexy and smoky back-up vocals from Sal Nastasi, whose band Ready In 10 is featured on the record, create a playful and sensual twist on the girl leaves boy story. The song was written by the same writing team that wrote Marie Digby’s debut hit single “Say It Again” - Jim Dyke, Eric Sanicola and Marc Nelkin, who is the award-winning songwriter of KE$HA’s “Backstabber”. Featured on the recording along with Ready in 10 is Juno Award winning jazz pianist D.D. Jackson. The Section Quartet provided the string arrangement and performances, and are best known for their album Strung Out on OK Computer: A Tribute to Radiohead, “Beautiful” by Christina Aguilera and “You’re Beautiful” by James Blunt. Singer/songwriter/producer Denise Marsa produced the single.

As media interest and excitement continue to build, Rachel is turning her focus to performing live. Her recent acoustic set performance at New York City’s The Duplex garnered great attendance and stellar audience reviews, and a repeat performance is scheduled for Friday, April 23rd. In addition, her September 2009 showcase at the United Jewish Appeal holiday party in New York City delighted guests and is leading to various event opportunities. In March , Rachel will join a long list of music luminaries performing for Musicians on Call, a non-profit organization dedicated to healing patients through live and recorded music.

Rachel’s debut single “Throwin’ Rocks at the Moon” is also taking new form. Her newest version of the track, an a cappella remix with Brandeis University’s VOICEMALE is now up on Youtube at www.youtube.com/rachelmillmanmusic. “Making the video with the students at Brandeis was unchartered territory for me and an amazing experience,” she describes. “We were lucky to have a great team of veterans behind it, and it was such a blast working with the boys.”

Along with the full band mix and an acoustic mix of “Throwin’ Rocks at the Moon,” If I Believe also features three songs produced by Brian Reeves from California’s Jungle Room Studios. “If I Believe,” “Hold On To Me” and “Waiting for Someday” were co-written by Reeves, Michelle Mangione and Joy Bonner.

With an all star cast, inspiring and uplifting songs, and an amazing voice, Rachel Millman is being noticed as she continues to carve out her place in pop music with her debut release, If I Believe. Visit Rachel at www.rachelmillman.com and www.myspace.com/rachelmillman
