Bio
Rachel Florence Newman (born October 30, 1978) is an American singer-songwriter and musician. Newman was raised in Columbus, Ohio, by 2 psychology professors/authors who came of age during the 1960’s. Her musical influences range from Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell to Janis Joplin and Aretha Franklin. This was the music her parents filled the house with when she was a child. Add to that her own fascination with artists who were on the radio when she was young, like Madonna and Prince, and you get a timeless musical style, appreciable by people across the globe.
Newman lived in New York City from 1998 to 2009, during which time she released 2 albums. The first was a collaborative effort with producer, Dustin Young, called Junkyard Cutiepie (album of the same name) released in 2002. The second was a solo effort, written, performed and produced by Newman herself, entitled “Just Me” released in 2008.
Currently living in Santa Monica, California, Rachel performs locally and is working on a third, untitled album.
