Bio
20-year-old Scottish singer-songwriter Rachel Sermanni consolidates her growing reputation as one of folk’s bright new things with her debut album ‘Under Mountains’, to be released October 15th on Middle of Nowhere Recordings.
Rachel launched her foray into the world of singer-songwriting when only 17, and has since played in excess of 400 shows across the UK, Europe and a handful of shows in the US and Asia. Shows, which have included numerous tours and support slots with the likes of Mumford & Sons, John Grant, Newton Faulkner, Fink, Ron Sexsmith, Elvis Costello and Michael Kiwanuka.
The start of the year saw Rachel release her debut EP ‘Black Currents’ which garnered support across BBC Radio – from sessions for R1 Introducing to R2’s Dermot O’leary – as well as topping the Coalition Singles Chart for two weeks.
With a busy summer of festivals this year – Reading Festival, Leeds Festival, Cambridge Folk Festival, Belladrum, Summer Sundae and Secret Garden Party so far – Rachel is set to be a firm fixture on the new music horizon.
‘Really really something special. She’s amazing. Listen to her voice. Quite astonishing’ Guy Garvey, Elbow frontman and BBC 6Music presenter
