With unapologetic lyrics, memorable melodies and soaring vocals, pop/rock singer and songwriter, Rachel T. Mitchell sure can mesmerize an audience. And she’s been cultivating this audience for many years as her musical obsession started at a very young age. As soon as she found the power and volume buttons on the family stereo, she was hooked! In fact, little Rachel enjoyed her new found “toy” so much, that she blew out its speakers just a few months after learning how to work it, belting along with the tunes just as loudly as she played them.

Her obsession stayed strong throughout her childhood in small town, St. Johns, Michigan where she was the main source of entertainment for family and friends and starred in as many singing competitions as she could discover, emulating iconic artists like Mariah Carey and Jewel.

Upon entering High School, Rachel suddenly became very serious about music as a career, taking private voice lessons and finding a new interest in music theory. Enticed by the chance to perform, she took up musical theatre, but found her perfect fit in singing with a band. She sang with a few bands, including the mid-Michigan based, primarily rock cover band, Conchord. Soon, Rachel was itching for her diploma so she could make her move to Music City, USA.

It was there in Nashville, as she swam in the deep pool of talent at Belmont University’s School of Music, where it became absolutely imperative for Rachel to stalk her musical aspirations. And that she did. She became a sponge of a student, trying to soak up all that Belmont and Nashville had to offer, and each day realizing a new reason for making music her focus in life. Rachel was able to conquer a wide-open stage as well as an assortment of vocal styles, when in her junior and senior years she was chosen for the exclusive vocal and dance ensemble, Company. Still, something was missing. With the enlightenment and encouragement from her peers and bass player husband, Bear, she realized this necessary and desired addition to her life was song writing.

Armed with her shiny Belmont Music degree, and new adoration for song writing, the incorrigible 23 year-old started work on a project she could call her own. Recorded in all analog, Rachel T. Mitchell released her 5-song debut EP, From the Lost and Found EP in early 2009. With a hearty mixture of heart-wrenching lyrics, feel-good grooves, vocal acrobatics and irresistible melody, From the Lost and Found EP has already nestled into the top playlists of Rachel’s tremendously appreciative fans. With such a promising start, a thriving passion and immense dedication, Rachel continues to write and perform and is thrilled to see what tomorrow holds.
