Hailing from the "live free or die state", Racky grew up in Wolfeboro on Lake Winnipesaukee. He was born in 1969, but he sounds as if he has been playing the Blues since the late forties.
He attended Berkelee College of Music in 1987 and graduated in 1991. Since then, Racky has been active on the New England music scene leading The Racky Thomas Band as well as playing solo gigs.
During the 90's he spent time in Denmark, playing gigs in Copenhagen. He has also played in Japan and at the Bisopstock Blues Festival in England.
