Bio

Radaid is a project that looks to fuse music from different parts of the world; ethnic and traditional music of towns with present sounds and contemporary style.

Radaid fuses music from Arabia, India, Mexico, Africa, China, North and South America and the Balkan Mountains among others with sounds of electronic and electroacustic character.

Using western ethnic and traditional instrumentation, we seek to break the barrier of space and time and meet again with the similarity that there is between the cultures that inhabited the world using music as a language that unifies us all.

Radaid was born in 1998 from a Celtic musical scale which drove Saul Ledesma and Emmanuel Macias to investigate the sounds of different cultures and to experiment with them. What had begun as a project of only an acoustic guitar, a violin and a section of eclectic percussion, developed into a group of eight musicians mixing the spirituality of ritual and traditional music and musical textures with a new conceptual and contemporary form.

Styles that oscillate between Belle chant, Mexican nationalism, Minimalism, Trip hop, Indie rock, Electronic and Ethereal wave music gave Radaid the western character that complements the loudness of the project.

Radiad is an Arabic-egyptian word that means “son or protégé of the sun”… this symbol completely portrays the vision of the project, whose premise is focused in music as a warrior in looks for its inner growth…

Up to this date Radaid has managed to consolidate as a group, thanks to the support and acceptance of its audience; playing in concerts working with great Mexican and foreign musicians and promoting its three records: “Radaid” , “Luz escondida (hidden Light)” and "L´intent" inside and outside of Mexico.
