Bio

Radhika means "the embodiment of love, the one who inspires". But Radhika is more than a muse, she is a prolific musician and songwriter whose is sure to cause a stir.

She describes her genre-busting sound as "classic, crafted and personal, with an emphasis on lyrics, rock and soul infused with ambience, and at times, a little of my culture."

In 2002 she was awarded the Most Outstanding Artist at the Urban Voice Contest. Since, she has performed in front of 5,000 people in Trafalgar Square and hosted residencies at venues in and around London.

Radhika's first foray into opening up her music to the world began when her song entitled "Cold Out Here", began making waves online. She had recorded a rough acoustic version and tentatively decided to put it on the internet to see what reaction it received. The accolades were tremendous and her music was accessed well over 30, 000 times . This incredible attention spurred interest in her and she was invited to appear on BBC 2's Desi DNA show and performed an acoustic version of the track live on air.

One of the first producers Radhika worked with was Edisio Alejandro, the production stalwart who has worked with legends including Gladys Knight. She has also worked with Andy Wright, who has credits including The Eurythmics, Natalie Imbruglia and even Pavarotti, and production hotshots Bugz In The Attic.

Adding to her already brimming collection of songs, Radhika recently travelled to Sweden with a collective of musicians to experiment with new sounds. "I came back with so many new tracks and even more new ideas! My aim is to keep writing and working with as many producers and writers as possible", she explains.

Distinctive vocals that can vary from a warm honeyed soulful quality to breathy and seductive to a harder edged rock tinged sound, a nod to her musical heroes, Sting, U2, Eva Cassidy and Nat King Cole. Her experience in classical Indian singing has only added to her vocal range and ability. "Indian singing requires you to sing from the throat instead of the Western way which is to sing from the diaphragm... I use both of the styles to add texture to my work."

Her songs are a step above your standard fare. While there are love songs and tracks that capture the fragility of a broken heart, there is a spirituality that runs through each line, and a positivity that echoes Radhika's own upbeat personality.
