Bio

The original “Radio Caroline” was a legendary pirate radio station – one of the first to break through the UK & BBC’s legislation and achieve massive success by broadcasting unknown musicians on independent labels. The station, although no longer “forced” to broadcast offshore from a ship in the Irish Sea, is still providing it’s listeners with original music from artists around the globe.

Much like its namesake, Radio Caroline – the band – based out of Baltimore, Maryland is dedicated to providing something truly authentic to listeners who appreciate raw musicianship. Whether through building their own recording studio and creating an independent label or contributing to a variety of music compilations (including a Lou Reed tribute which earned them recognition in Rolling Stone magazine) the band continues to challenge themselves daily by exploring fresh musical and emotional territory. Radio Caroline’s sophomore release is scheduled for late spring 2005 and reflects the band’s embrace of all types of music, while remaining loyal to their rock and roll roots. Their style, which is influenced by such legends as Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and could best be described as “Americana-Soul”.

Like all great singers, Kirk Philips (the band’s front man and lead vocalist) expresses emotion rather than merely referring to it. The band is also composed of multi-instrumentalists and lifelong musicians who have been writing, performing and recording together for nearly a decade.

Working for Right Coast Recording (a state-of-the-art recording studio in Columbia, Pennsylvania) has given these guys the privilege of working with and learning from some of the greatest musicians in the business. And after nine years of writing and producing award-winning music scores together for a variety of multi media projects, they have a clear vision of what their after in the production process of their recordings.

The friendship amongst band members and the unbelievably strong support from their fans has allowed them to continue doing what they enjoy so much, despite the ups and downs of the music business.
