"Weekly Planet Editor's Picks"

"Carmela, along with her current group, The Transmitters, plays up-tempo folk-rock that's thoughtful and reflective yet infectious and ear-friendly. By mixing steady rhythms with dobro-inflected melodies, Carmela and company maintain their message while being undeniably danceable" - Mark Sanders

"Weekly Planet Feature Article"

Pedicini is dubbed "Radio-Free Carmela" because her friends say she never shuts up. She continues to spill out memories, opinions, and predictions. She's earned her name for a very good reason. And frankly, she should keep broadcasting. - Cooper Levey-Baker

"Creative Loafing Sarasota"

In a crowed and talented folk community, Carmela Pedicini (nicknamed "Radio-Free" for her incessant talk) and her band stand out like champs. Never content with your average girl-with-guitar-in-a-coffee-shop sound, Firstenberger, et al bring an energetic and flat-out fun attitude to their glances back at the rich and wierd catalogue of Americana and rock derived from the same source. It helps that the band gigs consistently, with regular turns on the mike at the Old Packinghouse Cafe and, more recently, Metro Coffee & Wine. As a bonus Pedicini's blog goes in-depth about putting together her first album and is long on insight into the recording process. - Best of the Suncoast

"Creative Loafing"

Sarasota's Carmela Pedicini and her merry musical gang have plied thier rough Americana-tinged folk-rock around the area for years. With Americana Tourister, we finally have Carmela on wax, and the results are hella good. In particular, Pedicini and friends shine whenever they slow things down for aching, hard-edged story-songs such as "Last Fight" and "Black River." I might quibble over a couple of choices(the dancehall breakdown on "World Gone Mad," for example), but once drummer Dave Townsend punctuates Pedicini's ballads with more of his heartbreaking snare hits, criticism becomes moot.

"Creative Loafing Sarasota"

Talk about consistency. Carmela Pedicini first began playing gigs at the Old Packinghouse, a righteous country hang-out in east Sarasota, back in 2002, and she still keeps it up, performing at least once a month. It’s a cozy arrangement: The Packinghouse gets a solid regular show, and the band gets the chance to test out more of its Americana-tinged rock on a very friendly audience. But the band’s ambitions go beyond Sarasota. “We’re increasing our out-of-town(fan) base,” Pedicini says; she’s even trying to win converts in Europe with a solo couch-surfing tour scheduled to kick off this July. But while she and the band are looking to venture beyond their traditional confines, they know which side their bread’s buttered on, and won’t be letting down the locals — or the OPC — anytime soon.

Called one of the most consistent purveyors of Americana-tinged rock music in the region for years, Radio-Free Carmela and her band of Transmitters consist of musicians who have individually and collectively been performing in Florida for the past decade to devoted audiences.

Though tiny in stature, Carmela's voice reaches out with a kung fu grip to grab the listener and engage them in each storyline. She has the ability to instantly connect with her audience through a combination of insightful banter and a passionate original songbook. Her fan base ranges from very small children to octogenarians. The subject matter of her songs ranges from love and friendship to world affairs, romantic affairs, offspring, distant relatives and death.
