"Band delivers quite possibly its finest!!!"

Hailing from Dublin, Radio Room is a four-piece bearing the indie badge with distinction. Fans of Two Door Cinema Club will find a common impact in the music with dance-like riffs and lively drum and bass. ‘About:Blank’ sees the band deliver its third EP and quite possibly its finest.

Confetti’s urgency to grasp the listener works wonders, and the production quality is to be commended. Guitars and drums alter between solo hooks and working in unison, creating a typically choppy indie sound which any listener would struggle to rebuke. The hard-hitting bass gives the song a dirty attitude; almost punk. Being a cheeky and youthful song, Confetti hold what’s dear to many young listeners; hooks.

Once again, the bass and drums lead the way in Myself/Yourself. Although a scrappier tune vocally, Collie Drennan’s guitar-line fades in and out on cue, and exudes qualities of Two-Door Cinema Club and Bloc Party. The chorus lacks a true melody and is sadly occupied by a shouting vocal. It must be said that drummer Marco Persechin has excellent control over his kit and drives the band forward with a clear sense of direction.

Having released the video for Synesthesia (Directed by Eoin Heeney) in November 2012, many GoldenPlec readers may have already heard this EP’s third track. The immediate synth textures create a canvas of sound in which the drums, guitar and bass can then shade with sound. Probably the most accomplished song on the EP, Synesthesia carries itself in a decent light and is notably shaped for popular radio.

Each song seamlessly changes from verse, chorus, bridge and break and clock in at around the three-minute mark; perfect length for an EP. ‘About:Blank’ sees the quartet moving forwards creatively from last years EP ‘When You’ve Made It,’ and it looks like the Drimnagh natives are embarking on a busy year in 2013. - Golden Plec

"Radio Room - Synesthesia"

Ok, Chew Your Own Fat’s very own young fella contributor Rob Murphy has a band. They’re called Radio Room, and I reviewed their debut EP ages ago. At the time, i commented that their overall sound was obviously influenced by Two Door Similar club, but that there was a backbone in the music that could be built on. Not only did the band NOT act like total crybabies, i met Rob at a gig and he told me that the advice in that review had been taken on board and the band had started to progress in a harder edged direction. Well, the first fruits of this new labour is their new video “Synesthesia”, a total fucking stomper of a tune, with a pretty damn killer video to match. Proud as fuck of our boy Rob, and proud as fuck of Radio Room. These guys are the real deal. Check it out. - Chew Your Own Fat

"RADIO ROOM - When You've Made It"

Radio Room are a four piece indie/alternative band that hail from Dublin. Formed early in 2010, they are looking to make an instant impression with their debut EP, ‘When You’ve Made It’.

A run through of album shows clear indie pop influences, the like of which has driven some of our most recent success stories like Two Door Cinema Club or This Club. The first track As The World Churns is a hard-hitting introduction giving us early notions of what we can expect from this band. It combines catchy guitar riffs and drum beats with gritty vocals, showing off the unique tones of singer Robbie Murphy. The riffs roll along throughout, creating a track that is as pleasant as it is catchy.

What I like about this band is their upbeat infectious nature. They are the ultimate pick me up. I found them to be the perfect soundtrack to the lovely weather we had recently. Functions is a fast paced number with harsher vocals. If As The World Churns eases you in, then Functions is where things really get going. Nether is my favourite track from the EP. A slow burner that works it’s way into your brain days after listening, cheery, catchy and fun.

The album is closed out with another upbeat track, There’s Only Ghosts, which carries the tempo of the EP right through to its climax. Overall the EP reels you in via its infectious pace where you almost struggle to sing the words back. It’s not the best EP we’ve heard this year but it’s far from the worst. As debut’s go, it shows the potential to write catchy songs is there already and in the future perhaps Radio Room could be another indie-pop act that rises to prominence.
