"RADIUS Shines On"

The guys in Radius were a pleasant band to have part of our festival, they are definitely a top notch musical act. Their music hooks an audience in and takes them for an emotional roller-coaster. Their music & show was great, but they are also well-rounded humble gentlemen. What I liked best about Radius was their willingness to hangout after their performance talking with fans, shaking hands, and signing autographs under no time constraints.

"RADIUS on the Rise"

LOS ANGELES, CA- Known mainly for their catchy hybrid of guitar pop married with sensitive reflection, Los Angeles’ Radius shows anyone willing to listen that they are undoubtedly a band to watch out for in 2009.

Their most recognizable song, the infectious “Illuminate,” features a driving acoustic guitar paired with soft piano as accented by soaring hook, making it a perfect match for those who love memorable songs bumping around in their heads. It’s no surprise the song was featured in an episode of CW drama, “One Tree Hill.” Witnessing an audience’s reaction to the song is just a testament to the timeless quality of the music made by the Los Angeles four-piece.

Radius is clearly a band that revolves around energy. Their performance ignited the audience, bringing an immediacy and authenticity found rarely on the live stage. The foursome made sure the audience was having fun, as their own energy was reciprocated to the onlookers. Songs like “Breathe” and “Indian Summer” just grabbed the audience, and never let go.

Matthew Turbak’s vocals were reminiscent of Jakob Dylan’s croon combined with Bruce Springsteen’s confident growl, and they featured both the enticing vulnerability and invigorating strength of each. The rhythm section, expertly handled by Joe Chavanu’s drumming and Lon Gaither’s bass treatment, ensured that everyone in the audience was dancing to the pulsing beats or bobbing their head to the uplifting melodies. Thomas Gilbert’s twinkling guitar melodies added texture and depth, while his atmospheric guitar solos added a dimension to each performance that makes Radius incomparable to other modern rock bands.

With plans to play all over West Coast, overseas, and the Sundance Festival, 2009 looks to be the year of Radius.
