Southern Pines coffee lovers will be treated to some original music as they line up for their lattes from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, when Flynne's hosts a launch party for Rae Anne Kinney's new CD, "Method 2 Madness."
Kinney, a local musician, releases her first CD, "Method 2 Madness," on Dec. 1. Flynne Meares, owner of Flynne's coffee and also a musician, is very supportive of the Indie music industry. Along with serving coffee, she likes to provide a casual venue for local artists to share their music. Kinney will be signing CDs at the launch and giving away custom guitar pics. "The eclectic style of music on the CD is perfect for coffee shop listening," says Meares.
Kinney, originally from Northern California, draws her inspiration from her observations on life. She began writing music as a hobby over the past decade when her husband's job took their family overseas. After developing her guitar skills in Venezuela she began performing at local venues in Angola. What started out as a fun distraction turned into a passion. Her main focus has been song writing since she moved to the Sandhills in July 2006.
Kinney's CD was recorded locally at the Sandhills School of Performing Arts (SSPA) and produced by local musician and owner, Baxter Clement. "Baxter's extensive experience and talent were invaluable in taking my music to the next level," says Kinney. "I am very appreciative of the extra time and effort spent on the project and his work ethic."
Clement, who recently ran for Southern Pines Town Council, has an impressive track record. He has worked with artists from all over the world. His own band, The Blondes Inc., has been on the top ten of the New York City Charts and toured extensively. He is the owner of SSPA in Southern Pines and says he is very pleased to have found such talented people to record and work with in this town.
"Method 2 Madness" can be purchased from the Web site www.kinneyproductions.com and from Flynne's Coffee Bar for $15. Flynne's Coffee Bar is located at 143 NE Broad St. in Southern Pines and will be open extended hours for the launch party.

Bio
I have always loved music and writing lyrics. Song writing and poetry are relatively new for me. Living overseas as an expatriate for an extended period of time (Nov 1997 thru July 2006) gave me the freedom to develop in some new areas. I was exposed to great musicians and picked up my guitar again. I haven't put it down since and have improved over the years. This led to song and poetry writing. I love the creative process of how an idea evolves until it rings true. I would love to write for and collaborate with other artists in the future.
I enjoy listening to alternative rock over classic. I love artists who convey a story or message that I relate to in some way. Soft rock or easy listening music that I can sing along to is what I choose 9 times out of 10.
I also LOVE to dance! However, I do not write in this genre.
