Bio

Dr. Krishna Raghavendra is an international performing artist, composer, and producer of both traditional and contemporary Indian music. He is a virtuoso on the Veena (custom-made as detachable), a traditional plucked stringed instrument from South India. Dr. Raghavendra has developed novel playing techniques, which involve a combination of soft nuances, swift fingering and imaginative uses of melodic and drone strings to produce harmonizing and vamping sounds that mimic different instruments. His original compositions are based on ragas which incorporate melodic phrases and improvisations. He has released many recordings ( For details, visit www.raghasmusic.com).
Many outstanding musicians from India, Europe and U.S.A. such as, Mrs. R. A. Ramamani, the legendary Jazz saxophonist late Charlie Mariano, Four times Grammy award winning Frame Drummer Glen Velez and master world percussionist Jamey Haddad have performed and recorded with Dr. Raghavendra.
