Raheem Mills releases Your Majesty’s Breath

Orlando, FL January 4, 2007

Raheem is working hard in the evening hours checking his email, sending emails, answering the phone, adding revisions to his website, and the list goes on! My question is and why wouldn’t he be? He is not only the president of his own fledgling label but is also the only artist on the roster at this time and I would bet that he is all he has time for at the moment. Did I forget to mention he is also the producer, the writer, and self publisher through BMI? Yeah, ok the kid gets busy!
Fresh out of the studio all his efforts are focused on promoting his first official full length just released on RAH Records entitled “Your Majesty’s Breath”. A title that sounds like a phrase taken from those old school King Arthur type movies your mom and pops grew up watching. Uncalled for, maybe, he says, “it’s elegant and deep”, and that it means he is just a vessel carrying the same breath as every man. An elegant way of giving his album a self-title he says. “I’m you and you’re me both and all were created by God for God, the difference is those who accept this statement and those who don’t”. An obvious believer of the faith, but on the other hand his music is not so obvious. Although there are songs influenced by his beliefs there are many that just seem to speak about the reality of life. The struggle, the determination to succeed, the experience, the love, and the pain like that of which you can hear on a track called p.o.w. Short for pieces of war it describes the many wars one may see or face in life. A song he said he wrote in the hospital while his lady was undergoing her second heart transplant.
As a man of many talents Raheem definitely showcases many if not all of them from production, to creativity, to song construction, to style, and to lyrics. Nas says hip-hop is dead and that may very well be true, but Your Majesty’s Breath just might be one to help breathe new life into her. If you don’t have your copy you better get it, this is one for the books! -TGG

Bio

I was born in Long Island, New York a middle child of three. I was influenced early on by all the soulful greats my mom would have playing while she cleaned the house. My taste began to expand when we moved to florida and MTV was born. I have an appreciation for all types of music as long as it sounds good but my love is with hip-hop. I think what sets me apart is I write with the responsibility of a role model. I accept the fact that music is influential and I have the potential to either build up or tear down. I choose to build up as much as I can without loosing the heart or the edge on the track. It's hip-hop on a higher level it's life music.
