"Introducing: Rainbow Jackson"

The members of LA quartet Rainbow Jackson describe themselves as "Four dudes who listen to a lot of KISS.” While that may indeed be true, the band has a lot more in common with 60’s garage rock than with the Starchild and company. Just check out the tie-dyed infused cover of their latest release, “Rippin’ Off The Rails.” Better yet, listen to the EP’s loud and infectious tracks, which, in addition to sounding great, have fantastic names like “Robinson Crusoe” and “Rock n’ Roll Part 3 1/2.” Rainbow Jackson plays Los Globos July 10th, and “Robinson Crusoe” is streaming below. - Joshua S. "Ears Wide Open: Rainbow Jackson"

Although all those hooks in Rainbow Jackson‘s scuzzed-up power-pop might tickle your melody bone, there’s a defiant side to the L.A. quartet, like when Chad Carlisle sings “I’d rather drown than settle down.” Formerly calling themselves SCLA, Carlisle, Sam Dagget, Laith Khalaf and Andy Ford have a thing for crunchy, Nuggets-worthy tunes. “Robinson Crusoe” could easily be the hit at any summer pool party, but Rainbow Jackson doesn’t lack the substance when it comes to telling a story — even if it’s delivered with a little bit of slacker charm. Their self-released debut EP, “Rippin’ Off the Rails,” is out Tuesday - Buzzbands LA

Bio

Rainbow Jackson, the scuzzed-up power pop band from Echo Park, take their name from the greatest American athlete to ever play two sports, Bo Jackson. Band members Chad, Sam, Laith and Andy share a two bedroom house and a practice space with the talented and universally liked band Vanaprasta* as well as a cat, a dog and a small collection of uninvited mice. The band recently recorded a 7” with The Hindu Pirates for Near Mess Records and is working on a follow up to 2012’s Rippin’ Off The Rails EP.

*qualified because Rainbow Jackson is neither.

It may have been about the time that the fat married chick tried to get me to take half a shot out of her mouth that i was like “i need to get the fuck out of oklahoma” – Chad

I could eat like, a hundred burritos right now… – Andy

My bedroom now contains: 5 people, 1 dog, 1 cat, an entire recording studio w/gear, and a full carpentry set up. What else do you think we can fit in here? – Sam

I’m trying to get that feeling in the back of my throat like your girlfriend told you about. – Laith
