"From the first bar of "My Dreams," by Brooklyn based singer-songwriter RAINE, you wonder, could I fall in love with a stranger? Because you have, many, many times before, and all it takes is one whisper in your ear to make you believe that someone else has the power to reveal the magic within." -Cailey Lindberg - Earmilk
“Not The Same...is a warm slice of organic, skyward pop, with a rightful place alongside recent tracks from Shura and Verite." - Michael Morotta - Vanyaland
"Fans of Lana Del Rey might want to bend an ear to the new release from Raine. It combines windy vocals with a strong melodic progression that produces a melodramatic tapestry." -David Gonzales - Audio Drums
RAINE is an ethereal Alt-Pop artist from the Pacific Northwest, currently living in Brooklyn. Her music represents the beauty of nature and the power and influence of a woman.
What, if anything, defines your sound?
My music is definitely a bit of a genre mutt. I call it Alt-Pop with a tinge of grunge. The songs are vocally and lyrically driven on top of intricate and ethereal production.
What themes does Lesser Materials touch on?
Lesser Materials is about love, death, and impermance. It’s about accepting we’re going to die, and realizing that through love and creating a true bond with someone, you can live forever through them. While it feels like a dark song, it’s really a positive song about a dark subject.
Is there anything you’re planning to release in the coming months?
I just released an EP called My Dreams on October 28th! I also released a music video recently along with the title track, also called My Dreams. Next month I’ll be working with some awesome producers on remixes, and I’m starting to write the next EP, which will most likely be out in the Spring of 2017.
If people wanted to catch you playing, where would they go?
We’re currently booking shows for December and January in Brooklyn and NYC. They’ll be announced soon on my website! We’re also lining up a possible tour down to SXSW in March.

"It’s not surprising that RAINE (aka Jaqui Rae Stewart) creates strong and powerful music, considering that her name has been taken form the word, ‘moraine’, which describes the deposits of rock and soil that are left behind by a glacier as it shifts across the land over time." -Sarah - Indietronica
"RAINE engineers natural elements that command cosmos and the textures of weather patterns that together resounds like electro essences that whistle like a breeze through the reeds whose shores frame the window out to the Atlantic sea. " -Sjimon Gompers - Impose Magazine
"Having made quite an impression on us earlier this summer with her previous two singles, "Not The Same" and "Age Of Innocence", Brooklyn-based alt-pop artist Jaqui Rae Stewart, aka RAINE...now returns with the unveiling of her cinematic and enchanting new single called "My Dreams"..." - Wonky Sensitive

Bio
RAINE is the stage name of Jaqui Rae Stewart, a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who crafts melody-driven, ethereal alternative pop music. Her sound has been described as "cinematic sweeps & overtures reminiscent of the greatest film finales & emotional opening sequences" and has been compared to alt-pop contemporaries like Austra and Vérité. 'RAINE' comes from the word Moraine: the deposits of rock and soil that are left behind by a glacier as it shifts across the land over time. Her music represents the beauty of nature and the power and influence of a woman. When she takes the stage, one can feel a magical presence that leaves you enthralled, empowered, and wistful.
RAINE's debut EP My Dreams was independently released on October 28, 2016.
