"The Good Match is not good, but an outstanding effort for an indie band."

"Live Review"

"Raining Jane, the band that started off as a cute college girl group with a few groovy songs here and there, has become a full-fledged touring machine that can churn out engaging roots-rock numbers"
- Music Connection

"Raining Jane: On Any Given Sunday"

The catch isn't that they're four women, or four talented, multi-instrumentalist women, or four beautiful, talented, multi-instrumentalist women -- it's their voices: etherial, cohesive, concerted, and confident.

More than just making it work -- they kill it.

The thing is this, the music industry may be ***ked, but the music -- as long has super-capable, super-engaging bands like Raining Jane are tearing up the highways -- the music will be just fine. - MTV News Online Blog

"Featured Artist February 2002"

"Raining Jane's recent show at the Mint was standing room at best. The next day the group played the LA Sports Arena for the 90th anniversary of the Girl Scouts of America. Their chemistry is undeniable. When these four women come together they produce lighthearted pop rock sound with an independent flare. Vocal harmonies and quirky fun lyrics separate them from the norm. The bands self-released album features 10 songs (1 Ani Difranco cover) and has the unique quality of getting better with each listening." - The Los Angeles Music Scene

"Live Review - Raining Jane"

"Sometimes folkie, sometimes funky, the ladies of Raining Jane consistently churn out engaging multi-instrumental rock music highlighted by an intriguing use of dynamics and spot-on harmony vocals. While Raining Jane's collective instrumental prowess is impressive, it's their sense of humor and tendancy to induce mass sing-alongs that keep people coming back." - Music Connection

"NARM Makes The Most Of A Down Year"

"Retail Track was lucky enough to catch a sterling performance by Raining Jane." - Billboard Magazine

"Summer Picks"

"This four-member LA-based girl group seems the creation of some miraculous wondertwins experiment combining the raucous vibe of Sleater Kinney with the always-on harmonies of the Indigo Girls." - The New Times Los Angeles

"Club Picks"

"If there's a middle ground between Ani DiFranco and Dave Matthews, it's Los Angeles' Raining Jane, an eclectic all-female foursome who count no Janes among them (ain't that always the way?). Between their soaring harmonies and tendency to veer into folk, rock, funk or even hip-hop as the mood strikes, the band fit into no easy categories and still remain as comfortable as an afghan, so really, more Ani than Dave."
- Salt Lake City Weekly

"Raining Jane Opens for Maktub, Citizen Cope"

"Raining Janes stage presence made the show. Drummer Mona Tavakoli kept the audience entertained with self-deprecating humor and good nature. The audience was entranced as she played the cajon, a South American drum used in Flamenco.

'This is a cajon, not to be confused with cojones,' Tavakoli said, as she sat atop the drum, before giving a head-tossing demonstration of the drums distinctive sound. All that was visible of the drummer as she bent to her work was a pair of flying hands and a mass of black curls.

The band’s distinctive eclectic sound combines elements of modern and classic rock, classical music and skilled use of harmony to create a truly original sound.

The lead singer of the group, Chaska Potter, has a heavy raspy voice that adds an element of rock to the sweeter sound of the group’s cellist/guitarist/singer Mai Bloomfield, and the sassy rapping counterpoint of Tavakoli.

The unconventional instrumentation of the group lends another layer of charm to the sound – more than the 90-minute set, a cello, a sitar, and of course the cajon made appearances on the stage." - The Daily Evergreen

"Band of the Month"

"This four piece all female band have a great sound and by the looks of their web site have been busy for quite awhile. They are holding two CD release parties this month, one in L.A on the 9th and another in one of my favorite cities, San Francisco on the 15th. SO! if any of you are around be sure to check these girls out and pick up your own copy of their new release, 'Diamond Lane.'

These girls are also not afraid to get out on the road and tour either as they have a college tour booked starting this month and taking them right into May! Watch for them, check them out, support them!" - West Coast Indie

"Band Aid: Raining Jane"

"Self-described as 'eclectic rock-folk' but much more dynamic than that. Think complex harmonies over an array of instruments, with a penchant for wit and killer covers." - Anchorage Daily News

Bio

Raining Jane's career has taken many turns over the past 10+ years, but throughout the journey the band has remained independent and committed to making music together. Growing beyond their UCLA-music-scene roots, Raining Jane established a name for themselves by touring the U.S. relentlessly for six years (2004-2009), performing over 120 shows annually, all independently booked. During their "road years" Raining Jane played colleges, clubs, festivals, and opened for artists such as Sara Bareilles, Willy Porter, Guster and Rachel Yamagata. In the summer of 2011, Raining Jane supported Sara Bareilles on tour and they released their fourth album, "The Good Match."

The band's heavy college touring lead to a pivotal moment in 2007 when the band met Jason Mraz at a college festival they were both performing at. Unusual for a headlining artist to pay any attention to the opening band, Mraz watched Raining Jane's entire set from side of stage, and later told them he wanted to work together. Mraz wasn't kidding, and at that moment an incredible creative collaboration began which continues today. Since 2007, Raining Jane and Mraz have written and recorded demos for many songs. In 2008, one of those songs, "A Beautiful Mess," was released on Mraz's Grammy-nominated album "We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things."

In addition to their musical work as a band, Raining Jane is strives to make a difference in the world through various social justice causes. In 2010 members of Raining Jane founded Rock n' Roll Camp for Girls Los Angeles, a non-profit dedicated to empowering girls through music education. Raining Jane has also recently begun collaborating with music venue The Britt Pavilion to conduct songwriting and "rock band" workshops for high school students in Southern Oregon.
