Biography

Rainy and The Dust are a rootsy-acoustic, rhythm and groove band, lead by singer-songwriter and multi - instrumentalist Rainy. Bath/Bristol-based, they are described by many as G-Love meets Dave Matthews meets Paul Simon meets Crosby Stills & Nash - in truth they are essences of the above... and something else entirely! Rainy’s positive lyrics and The Dust’s eclectic, laid back yet deliciously upbeat style leaves audiences brimming with good-feeling and exhilarated from dancing as the warm beats wash over them, rich with the rhythms of Afro-Latin, Reggae and Jazz. Favourites on BBC Radio Bristol and increasingly popular on the festival scene, they have appreared on many festival stages, including Glastonbury. They notably have supported Martin Taylor at Darvel Jazz festival, won studio time in London through PRS magazine and recently played at The Royal Wedding celebrations in Victoria Park, Bath.

Look up

Written By: Rainy

Look up

Lets go and see the gypsy man play
I'm stuck in a low tide
Still looking for blue sky
And would you come and share your smile with me
‘Cause maybe it’s high time
I started to feel fine

Down on your luck
Feeling tired and all shook up
This is no way
Of winding down
At the end of the day
So look up, look up

It ain’t gonna stay, to long
Not if I can help it
I might be right or wrong
Or maybe I can shake it
Nothings black or white
In this old life
Just now I don't want to be
Right now I don't want to be right

Lets go and find a little place to unwind
Maybe an island
Or somewhere to smile
And dance away these
Precious moments we find
Spin around for the evening
Just enough to catch the feeling

Down on your luck
Feeling tired and all shook up
This is no way
Of winding down
At the end of the day
So look up, look up

It ain’t gonna stay, to long
Not if I can help it
I might be right or wrong
Or maybe I can shake it
Nothings black or white
In this old life
Just now I don't want to be
Right now I don't want to be right

Message

Message

I'd Understand
If for one way or another
It was never planned
To know the way by mere direction
I've walked a road
That passes by the ocean
I'd never think
To walk away from your affection

‘Cause your bridges are standing
Watched by spirits and guardians
And the least I could do
Is send a message to you

Not Far away
The Biting winds of winter
Never fail to change
The Frozen Spiral eyes you sparkle
Don't loose your smile
If the wind changes direction
It'll Go for miles
Beyond the air and through detection

‘Cause your bridges are standing
Watched by spirits and guardians
And the least I could do
Is send a message to you

I'd Understand
Don't hide away from me
Your love is strong
That’s all that love should be
Oh Days
Days like these are True
Just give me time
And I'll send a message to you

‘Cause your bridges are standing
Watched by spirits and guardians
And the least I could do
Is send a message
Just send a message to you

Giving

Written By: Rainy

Giving

Things could be different
And simply may change
Into the difficult
As times rearrange
See days may give
These days just take
To long to figure out
But make no mistake

This is a long time coming
This is a long way to be running
This is a short little time to be living
Going to make sure I'm giving

Some go the easy way
Before its to soon
But I’ll go the other way
And howl at the moon
See clouds may roll
Stars may be born
No time for sitting round
Looking all forlorn

This is a long time coming
This is a long way to be running
This is a short little time to be living
Going to make sure I'm giving

We all need a little bit
And we all know that we should
The best laid plans
Could do you no good
Hold on too tight
And you might just loose your grip
‘Cause walking a dry road
Don't mean you won't slip

This is a long time coming
This is a long way to be running
This is a short little time to be living
Going to make sure I'm giving

Get Into the positive
And you’ll shine right where you’re stood
Couldn't be more simple
If the wonderful
Is what you search

Get Into the positive
Got to shine right where you’re stood
