Bio
Raj Mohan is a vocalist, composer, poet, and lyricist with roots in Indian classical music. Though based in The Netherlands, Raj was born in Surinam. His relationship with India has a long history. In 1873 his ancestors left India for Surinam as indentured labourers, to whom he devoted his CD Kantráki / Contract Labourer. After his musical training in Amsterdam he continued his education in India, absorbing the 'ins and outs' of Indian music.
After years of performing light classical Indian music and jazz-crossover in countries like Netherlands, England, Germany, South-Africa, India, Mauritius, Raj was ready to go a step further; to create pop music using his Indian background. This resulted in an original new style of music in the album Daayra, to be released in Summer 2011.
