RAKE

RAKE

BandRockAlternative

Guitar driven rock blending powerful vocals and intelligent real-world lyrics with memorable melodies and hooks.

Biography

Like a hot western wind blowing across the plains, Rake has become an unavoidable presence on the Canadian rock map. Climbing each step of popularity and critical acclaim carefully and quickly with superbly crafted songwriting and a high energy show, Rake has become the next big thing coming out of the West. Working with such talents as Chad Kroeger, Danny Craig, Joey Moi and Matt Martone, Rake has carved out a distinguishable and unforgettable sound in the rock radio genre as well a sizable following.

Now, with gigs most bands would kill for, opening for the likes of The Tragically Hip, Nickelback, Live and Default, Rake had come out on top with their 2005 release "From Darker Days", packed with fierce, inimitable songs ready to be heard by all of Canada and beyond. Such songs as "Without A Sound" and "A Perfect End" charted Jode Terry’s growth as a songwriter, as well as the emergence of Chris "Maz" Ryan as a vocal force.

In 2006, Rake was noteably the only indie band added to the Nickelback 2006 tour as it swept through Alberta. The amazing opportunity has risen the band to all new heights, and resulted in a huge increase of record sales and an ever increasing fan base.

With the success of the past year, Rake is heading into the studio for a follow up Record to include new fan favourites such as ‘Deteriorate’ and ‘Take Me Home’. Even before completion, the new year gains light with Rake’s known determination and promises of cross Canada airplay, high-profile support slots and a much awaited headline tour.

Lyrics

Without A Sound

Written By: Jode Terry/ Rake

Been tied to you so long
inside i was all alone
couldnt wait to see you go
couldnt stand coming home

my silence had a reason
the pains unspoken ryhme
unseen and neglected
one of us never had the time

as i move near you
asleep so silently, unaware
but its her i'm seeing
hand in hand imagine that
as i'm leaving

everyday i die inside
the emotions i try to hide
to believe what isnt true
in this private hell i made with you

i'm taking back this part of me
and hoping now that you will see
why it is all this time?
you still live and i still die

its not like i
ever made you cry
ever told a lie
tore you up inside
its not like you
ever told the truth
ever said we're through
made me a part of you

No More

Written By: Jode Terry

i know i am not the same
since you and i were done
the things we said
the place we met
the pain i'm not that far from

but your not around
the steel in me bent
but it never broke
all the chances we had
all the memories we won't

what is there left to say
what is there to fight about
how could this end with no more words
and no more doubt

i guess someday
your heart won't hurt inside so much
the way we were
the way we are
the way we should have become

but your not around
the steel in me bent
but it never broke
all the chances we had
all the memories we won't

what is there left to say
what is there to fight about
how could this end
with no more words
and with no more doubt

is there still peace in you
is there something you wanna say
how could this end
with no more words
and still be ok

i'll be ok
i'll still be around

A Perfect End

Written By: Jode Terry

I came back
when i heard you call
been thinking i stayed away too long
he's gone now
and i'm not a kid
trembling and sweating
at the sight of him

Sunday, secrets inside
a place to pray
with no place to hide
don't make me
let me stay here
laughing and playing
with no Father to fear

he won't be afraid
he'll live a good life
not jumping at shadows
in the morning light
time long past
do it for him
no more mocking hands
at the perfect end

a car crash
a hit and run
but i know who the driver was
a young boy
who now has a son
safe now in knowing
that He won't touch this one

he won't be afraid
he'll live a good life
not jumping at shadows
in the morning light
time long past
do it for him
no more mocking hands
at the perfect end

I came back
when i heard you call
been thinking i stayed away too long
he's gone now
and i'm not a kid
trembling and sweating
at the sight of him

he won't be afraid
he'll live a good life
not jumping at shadows
in the morning light
time long past
do it for him
no more mocking hands
at the perfect end
