"Powerful Performance"

”Rakija is the name of a Serbian brandy, but it is also the name of the ensemble that this evening sang and played catchy, rhythmical Balkan folk songs, almost blowing off the roof of the church! Many people in the audience sang along, while some wiped tears from their eyes – moved by the impression the band gave with its powerful performance”. - Hege Boman Grundekjøn, after the concert in Røa church, 13. February 2008

Bio

The band Rakija was formed in 2007 in Oslo by musicians from Serbia and Norway. They play their own material as well as traditional folk music from the Balkan region in new, fresh arrangements with elements from pop, rock and classical music.

Since the beginning Rakija have established themselves as a popular and distinctive live band. They have played on stages and clubs over large parts of the country and have inspired people to throw off their shirts at Balkan parties, whilst tears have been observed at acoustic shows. Rakija radiate music and stage presence which appeals to music lovers of all ages.
