Bio

There is a story about Ralfe Band that involves leaving a broken piano out in the snow so that they could use it to create the perfectly atmospheric and unique sounds required to construct their sublime soundtrack to the acclaimed 2009 feature film 'Bunny and the Bull'. It perfectly encapsulates everything that the band do, which is create pop songs using uncommon methods usually associated with the avant garde or the library recordings of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.

The project of artist Oly Ralfe, Ralfe Band have been creating remarkable slices of pop oddities since the release of debut album 'Swords' in 2005. Between madcap songs about nibbling on crows or plastering BBC 6 Music with their 2013 single Come On Go Wild, they’ve racked up three studio albums in addition to the aforementioned OST, toured extensively around the globe and recorded sessions for BBC DJs Mark Radcliffe, Marc Riley and Tom Robinson.

Oly Ralfe’s vision is what drives the band, and it won them the award for Best International Music Video at 2006’s SXSW Film Festival for his animation for the single 'Women of Japan'. It has also seen the band appear in massively acclaimed cult UK TV series The Mighty Boosh, and Oly direct the 2010 film The Mighty Boosh On Tour – Journey of the Childmen.
