Rambling Nicholas Heron
A five man strong band from the west coast of Sweden. We are constantly exploring the back waters of old country, blues, rock and all kinds of music and bringing it into the sound of today. Niklas Hedström is the songwriter and lead singer and he is constantly writing new songs that we all help come to life.
Rambling Nicholas Heron are going in to the studio in january 2010 to record a full band album on the label Red Top Recordings. Producer is a well hired man named Björn Olsson, founder and guitarist in Union Carbide Production and Soundtrack Of Our Lives.
Rambling Nicholas Heron and his band hail from Sweden and make confident, smart and tender music. Rolling green hills with snow-capped mountains in the back with embedded castles are what you may come to imagine while listening to this amazing folk rock. Or blues rock, on occation.
The music falls back and forth deceptively from biting to beautiful. The music is right on the edge of falling apart. The music ebbs and flows. The vocals are almost above their range. It’s all half broken and the beat is almost just a bit off, but it fits the theme of the song very well. So does the song fall apart in the end? Yes, but in a bed of laughter and a bit of call and response that’ll make you smile.
Rambling Nicholas Heron got his Fender Stratocaster at age 13. Although 13 means bad luck things have worked out pretty well anyway. It’s been a winding road to where he is now; cooking up lo-fi rock, blues rock, bedroom ballads on his own on the four-track or with his band. Since 2007 two LPs have been released in the U.S and one cassette has been issued in Italy. Another two LPs have been released without any labels at all.
It might be because of Rambling Nicholas Heron’s soothing vocals or the abundance of instrumentals or the confidence in the lyrics or the unexpected turns in mood; either way, hearing him and his band play is a pleasant, warm and rewarding experience.
