Rampage Swing

 Ypsilanti, Michigan, USA

Rampage Swing exists for one purpose: to play high-energy swing music that will keep you on the dance floor all night long. Our close contacts with the swing community ensure that we play the tempos, styles, and songs that dancers love.

After they met in 2010, saxophonist Brian Einstein Lassiter and swing dancer Robin Lassonde started talking about how there was a disconnect between what jazz musicians thought was good swing dance music and what dancers thought was good swing dance music. All too often, bands with great musicians would play songs that were too fast, too slow, too long, or just not fun to dance to.

Many long conversations later, Rampage Swing was born. A band by swing dancers, for swing dancers. After writing 24 arrangements in the space of 4 weeks, the band debuted to over one hundred swing dancers at Swing Ann Arbor. Since then, Rampage Swing has become the favorite of dancers around the Midwest, performing for large dance events such as Ninja Swing, Ann Arbor Art Fair, Pirate Swing, and as the featured band for the Keep It Simple and Swing Michigan Exchange.

In 2010, Rampage Swing released the 5-track EP "Stormin' the Scene". It features the swing classics Woodchopper's Ball and East St. Louis Toodle-oo, modern swing favorites Moondance and Born to Love Her, and an original composition by our vocalist Brad McNett, I'm So Distracted.
