"Jackie Hayden Review"

Jackie Hayden Hotpress Review:

‘Some of that Stooges/Iggy rough and ready sense of abandon is also evident on The Ramparts CD out of the deepest darkest Blackpitts in Dublin. ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ charges along with intent, lots of guitar riffing and splashing cymbals. ‘Never Forget’ is a more thoughtful work, with pleading vocals from Ricky Cunningham and it builds really well and blossoms into a full-blooded track that could do them a lot of good. The punked-up ‘Rage’ rampages out of the speakers in full cry and squalls of feedback. It could have been recorded in 1979, but when a band plays with this kind of vitality, who cares?

Bio

Ramparts were born in the early Summer of 2005. Consisting of brother duo Ricky and Paul (a.k.a. Kid) Cunningham, Wayne Gaffney and Keith Biggins. After blood sweat and tears were spilled after weeks in the rehearsal studio, Ramparts were ready to perform and did so by the end of Summer. Their lively and energetic stage presence soon caught the eye of booking agents and gig-goers alike and they now enjoy playing regularly around the Dublin Club scene.
In December of ‘05 Ramparts made their debut recording of their tracks “Say It” and “Summertime” , and enjoyed the radio play which followed. In early 2006 Ramparts were approached to record a track for the “South East Rocks Vol.2” Compilation CD and happily obliged with the track “Breathe It In”. The CD is currently on nationwide release.
Not a band known to waste any time, the lads re-entered the studio yet again in June ‘06 to record their debut EP “Cerca Trova”. Many DJ’s in their hometown are already spinning the yet to be released tunes, and numerous Radio/Magazine and Newspaper interviews will follow after the release.
Having been compared to the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Ramones, The Fall and U2, Ramparts hope to live up to every expectation, and exceed them.
