Let’s welcome Ivory Coast International Reggae Superstar RAMSES DE KIMON THE PHARAOH. His African inspired Reggae and Imperial presence draw stadium sized chanting crowds of devotees wherever he performs.
The Richness of his West African Heritage with tribal drums and Caribbean rhythm reached all Reggae and World music audiences. The PHARAOH communicates across cultures singing in English, French, German and his own dialect “EBRIE”.
His musical career began 1981 with his band JAH NOUS DEUX / GOD BE WITH US. In 1985, he became the Lead Vocal and Leader of the O.U.A (Orchestra of the University of Abidjan). He released 3 albums with this band which included hits like “UP RISIN”, “OPPRESSION”, “SYSTEM”, “PEACE”, “DOMINKA”…These #1 hits were widely acclaimed on all Ivory Coast commercial Radios and TV Stations as well as International Radios like RADIO FRANCE INTERNATIONAL (RFI) and AFRICA #1.
In 1993, he released his first solo album “REMAKE THE WORLD” recorded in LONDON with the musicians of the Dub Poet LINTON KWESI JOHNSON. The heartbeat of this album pounded out a mega success. With hits like “DJIDJI NANDJUI”, “VERITES”, “RAGGASYSTEM”. RAMSES DE KIMON reached stardom. He then founded his own music Label: ROK (Ramses De Kimon Organization).
In 1995, The PHARAOH migrated to the USA to spread his conscious heart felt lyrics. He has performed all around the world with International Reggae Stars like The WAILERS, CULTURE, IJAHMAN, LUCIANO, BURNING SPEAR, SISTER CAROL; THIRD WORLD…His AFRICAN ROOTS TOUR in 1999 across AMERICA has been a great success.
RAMSES DE KIMON second solo album is “LE PEUPLE”. This album is dedicated to all PEOPLE of the world who fight for righteousness. POWER to the PEOPLE. The PEOPLE have got the POWER to make a positive change. The PEOPLE always prevail in the end; Cause GOD is always right and is at the side of the PEOPLE.
Today, RAMSES DE KIMON is back on the block, starting in Kingston Jamaica on his next album and preparing for his world tour. The PHARAOH is also the guest of honor at the 4th annual LINKAGE REGGAE MUSIC AWARDS which will be held on March 16, 2013 in New York. Ceremony during which he will perform live before Reggae Legends such as BUNNY WAILER, LUCIANIO etc...…
Honored at home as the conscience of the people, he depicts in his interviews what each and every one of us lives and experiences. “I AM NEITHER LEFT NOR RIGHT; I AM OF THE PEOPLE”. One of The PHARAOH’s hit songs “UP RISIN’ sums up the striking mercurial call for JUSTICE and WORLD PEACE:
