Biography

Rancho Deluxe is a Country band based in Los Angeles. Their sound is driven by Americana Roots songwriting and Bluegrass based instrumental breaks. Closer to Rock than Bluegrass and more Honky-Tonk than Rock, this is their critically acclaimed debut, produced by the band's guitarist, Jesse Jay Harris. Jesse and singer-songwriter Mark Adams started playing together in Chico, California where they went to college. Together they led several Rock and Americana groups, but driving Country Rock was always their calling. When they moved to Los Angeles, they quickly settled into an enthusiastic Country scene, recruiting Jesse’s brother, Graham to play bass. They released the Rancho Deluxe debut in November 2005 and it has since been hailed as a superb first effort by No Depression, Dirty Linen and musicians and critics the world over. An amazing group of Musicians support the core trio, including Pedal Steel Hall of Famer JayDee Maness (Vince Gill, Beck, The Byrds), Don Heffington on Drums (Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams), Michael Witcher on Dobro (Dolly Parton, Peter Rowan) and successive National Fiddle Champion Megan Lynch.

Lyrics

Rock Bottom

Written By: Mark Adams (music by Jesse Jay Harris)

YOU DON'T SPEAK TO YOUR RELATIVES
YOUR BANK ACCOUNT'S IN THE NEGATIVE
AND GOOD FRIENDS, YOU AIN'T GOT 'EM
YOUR BODY STINKS FROM HEAD TO TOE
YOU NEED TO SLEEP BUT YOU'VE GOT NO HOME
THAT'S HOW YOU KNOW YOU'VE HIT ROCK BOTTOM

YOU HAD A WOMAN BUT YOU LET HER DOWN
BETWEEN THE GAMBLIN' AND FOOLIN' AROUND
YOU TOOK YOUR LUCKY PAIR OF DICE AND SHOT 'EM
IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE IF YOU SHED A TEAR
WHEN YOUR TREE FALLS NO ONE'S GONNA HEAR IT
THAT'S HOW YOU KNOW YOU'VE HIT ROCK BOTTOM

YOU GO OUT IN YOUR FAKE SKIN BOOTS
YOU START CUDDLIN' UP WITH THE BOOZE
AND NOBODY WANTS TO CUDDLE UP WITH YOU
YOU GO LOOKIN' FOR THE DOSEY DOE
WIND UP IN THE ALLEY WITH A RUNNY NOSE
THAT'S HOW YOU KNOW YOU'VE HIT ROCK BOTTOM

THE WORDS YOU HEAR THE MOST ARE GO TO HELL
YOUR SOUL AIN'T WORTH ENOUGH FOR YOU TO SELL
IF THE DEVIL EVER CARED HE'S FORGOTTEN
STREET PREACHERS TRY TO HELP YOU PRAY
NOT EVEN JESUS WANTS TO KNOW YOUR NAME
THAT'S HOW YOU KNOW YOU'VE HIT ROCK BOTTOM

YOU STAY OUT IN YOUR FAKE SKIN BOOTS
YOU KEEP CUDDLIN' UP WITH THE BOOZE
AND NOBODY WANTS TO CUDDLE UP WITH YOU
YOU GO OUT LOOKIN' WANNA STEAL SOME DOUGH
WIND UP IN THE JAIL HOUSE BROKEN NOSE
THAT'S HOW YOU KNOW YOU'VE HIT ROCK BOTTOM

YOU'RE STILL OUT IN YOUR FAKE SKIN BOOTS
YOU'RE STILL CUDDLIN' UP WITH THE BOOZE
AND STILL NO ONE WANTS TO CUDDLE UP WITH YOU
IT'S A ONE MAN PARTY NEXT THING YA KNOW
NO ONE WILL BE CRYIN' ON YOUR TOMBSTONE
THAT'S HOW YOU KNOW YOU'VE HIT ROCK BOTTOM

YEAH, THAT'S HOW YOU KNOW YOU'VE HIT ROCK BOTTOM
