Randolph Matthews is a rare breed of artist. With warmth, charisma and soulful delivery, daringly, he brings sounds, melody and instruments from disparate cultures and time into a single contemporary package and bring Soul as we know it into World music or vice versa...World as we know it into Soul music. - Eric Soul (www.VoxAfrica.com / Wahala TV)

This man’s not just original, He’s out there! - Blues and Soul Magazine

It’s beautifully unhurried, splendidly languorous and unashamedly spiritual - Flux Magazine

We loved having Randolph Matthews at our event. He is a rare, and superb artist and entertained our diverse audience with not only his great talent for song-writing, musical versatility which is profound, but through his performance energy which connected with every one that was present. Having managed CHER and having produced in stadiums and arenas around the world, I would not hesitate to have Randolph on a bill, whether it be in the slums of Africa or the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. A brilliant and true musical genius. - Charlie Stuart Gay, (Visionary & Founder of Humanity Unites Brilliance (H.U.B.) www.hublondon.hubhub

Randolph always brings a deep sense of spirituality combined with unrivalled professionalism to the studio and It's an honour to be associated with his magical voice. Every performance is gold! - Seb Taylor, (Kaya Project) – after working with Randolph on the album “So It Goes"

Randolph Matthews has a voice of stature. At once able to convey power and tenderness, joy and sadness. Couple this with his spiritual approach to life and lyrics and you have an artist of outstanding ability, bordering on genius! - Steve Salvari (Producer, Moondance Musik: Nathan Watson, Robert Palmer, The Libertines, Barry White

Randolph Matthews is an artist of depth, always looking to expand his creativity. He has a rich vocal style that compliments a world stage. He may catch you by surprise! - Geoffrey Williams, singer songwriter producer (Michael Jackson, Shaun Escoffery)

Number three for Kaya Project, And So It Goes features once again guitarist Seb Taylor and wordless singer/keyboardist Natasha Chamberlain laying down their delicate ethnic-chillout vibe, surrounded by a deep-running cast of guest musicians and singers. Of particular note are the vocal contributions of Irina Mikhailova and Randolph Matthews, the latter adding a nice "African reggae" vibe to "Zema Lasu," an understated highlight. Some tracks ("Obsidian Beats" jumps to mind) are dancefloor friendly, but most of the album unfolds in listening (as opposed to dancing) mode. The duo lines up worldbeat influences, from klezmer clarinet to Arabic violins, Indian percussion, and a lot more. Things tend to get a bit overcrowded at times, and the album runs long at over 78 minutes, but it sure does the job when it comes to taking you someplace else, grooving. Strangely, though each track takes a slightly different approach, the listener comes out of And So It Goes with a feeling of over-homogeneity. This may be due to Taylor's omnipresent guitar playing, or simply the fact that in the course of 80 minutes, the music remains extremely faithful to its world-electro ideals. In any case, it's a fine if expansive effort, with "Always Waiting" and "Zema Lasu" standing out among the songs, and "Jamming with Marco," "Saranghi Breaks," and "Awaken" being instrumental highlights. - François Couture, All Music Guide – Reviewing the album “So It Goes” by the Kaya Project feat. Rando

Forget the usual tags – ‘singer-songwriter’, ‘folk-soul’, ‘troubadour’. If you’ve caught him live, either solo or with his quartet, you’ll understand. Randolph Matthews operates in his own parallel world, well away from traditional mainstream record label marketing formulae. His music is an evolving journey, rooted in purity and unshackled expression, drawing on the greats of yesteryear in soul, African rhythms and conscious poetry. Sure, you’ll hear echoes of Marvin, Jon Lucien and Shuggie Otis, influences in the true sense, never derivative, allied to an open-minded approach borne from years performing live and collaborating with a wide variety of ground breaking London artists. - Quinten Scott (Strut Records)

Think Leon Ware over beautifully laid hip hop beats" said Vibe Magazine of Low Budget Soul's first 12" release `Fills My Heart/Mystery Rose' (included on this debut album). Norman Jay played the single six times in a row on his Giant 45's Radio show and included it on his compilation of the same name. Now, we at Futuristica Music proudly present Strangers To The Ordinary the full-length album by Low Budget Soul. Lead vocals are supplied by the incredible Randolph Matthews who has lent his talents to a whole host of projects over the past few years including NSM, TY & Gum Drop. His butter smooth delivery perfectly compliments the rough edged, sample led beats of producer supreme Tris `Ol' English' Browne whose off the wall and yet undoubtedly soulful creations draw comparison to the music of Madlib, the late J-Dilla and Pete Rock.” - CD Universe, editorial review of the album “Strangers To The Ordinary” by Low Budget Soul, feat. Ran
