Biography

Please see our International EPK for tour dates and more info: www.gigmit.com/random-order

Taking cues from Twin Peaks, James Bond, and Quentin Tarantino films, Indie Toronto-based collective Random  Order's spine-tingling sub-rock attracts a diverse cultural audience. With equal parts irony, confidence, and catharsis, lead-singer and song-writer Lynx channels PJ Harvey, The Pixies, and The Clash into the distinct sound of a 6-piece band.

Their newest offering, Black Lipstick Kiss, injects their signature subversive rock into the sexy soundscapes of dangerous spy movies. The new direction is possibly the result of acute cinema binging, being that most of the material for the new album was written while Lynx was caught in a hurricane during Halloween and resorted to watching 24-hour horror film marathons in a hotel room for 5 days straight.

Since their inception in 2005, Random Order have consistently released great material, toured Canada, the East Coast, and Japan, played festivals and opened for artists as diverse as Salt-n-PepaJoan Osborne, Michelle Shocked, Sistah Carol, Judy Mowatt, Bassnectar and  Ari-Up (The Slits).

Random Order has maintained their punk roots while becoming known for bringing their underground culture to a wider market. Their shows have drawn a following that can only be described as tribal, and with each release it has become clearer and clearer that above all things unique and musical, they advocate a sense of fun and belonging.

They are currently charting in Canadian top 30 college radio and have landed the number 2 spot twice in their home base Toronto. They have been played on radio stations in Ireland, Germany, Holland and The US.

Black Lipstick Kiss Awards:
Best Original Song In A Film Award 2015 - Fetisch Film Festival Kiel, Germany
Nominated Best DIY Video - RightOutTV 2014
Best Video  Writers Poll- Rhythms Magazine, Australia 2014 -  Sue Barrett

The band has headlined many shows, festivals and fundraisers including: UP F.A.M.A. (Fashion, Art, Music, Awareness) festival in Guatemala City, Guatemala to help raise funds for homeless street youth.

"When Random Order gets on stage, you have no choice but to submit to the moving of your body guaranteed to pull you into that horn-blowing-bass-thumping-rawk-vocals-ska-rythms-full-of-energy groove, and not let go until well after they've left the stage." (Shara Gustafson - Festival Director: Robson Valley Music Festival)

Random Order  is signed with indie labels Cat Scratch Records (CND), NHP Music (MEX) Blue Pie Records (AUS)

What's On Your Mind?

Written By: Lynx

What’s On Your Mind?

What’s on your mind?
Could you leave it behind?
What’s on your mind?
Could you leave it with the day time?
You can tell me all about your day ya
And then can we make it go away?
Forget the rest and leave it behind yeah
Now’s the time to relax your mind

I’ll be twice as nice I guarantee, I said I guarantee yah
I’ll be twice as nice I guarantee yahhhhh

What’s on your mind?
Could you leave it behind?
What’s on your mind?
Could you leave it with the daytime?
I know that daily living is rough for you too welllll
But believe me when I tell you it’s rough for me too
Forget the 9-5 work a day blues
Forget the 9-5 we’ve got nothing to lose

What’s on your mind?
We can fix anything
What’s on your mind
If we know what’s wrong
We won’t watch tv
Cuz we know what’s wrong with society
What’s on your mind
Could you leave it behind
I’d like to explore the many possibilities well
We’ve got the means and solutions
We’ve got everything we need

Oh We’ll be smokin’ here all night all night all night
Oh We’l be smoking here til the daylight til the daylight til the daylight
Oh we’ll be smoking here all right all right all right
Oh we’ll be smoking here til the daylight til the daylight til the daylight

The Morning After Kill

The Morning After Kill

I met you, In the middle of the night
I knew, its wasn’t gonna be right
But you could not resist
You wanna turn around
But I won’t let you
Let me down, let me down
You feel compelled to see what held you

Don’t come lookin’ for me
In the middle of the night
Cuz if you find me
It’s not gonna be alright
Swallow that bitter pill
Walk away before I make my kill

Why aren’t you dead yet?
How did you survive?
The morning after kill
No-one gets out alive

Undeniable
Indescribable
Uninhibited
Unrestricted
Instinctual
Unextinguishable

Why aren’t you dead yet?
How did you survive?
The morning after kill
No-one gets out

Pink Cloud

Pink Cloud

You’re the hottest thing I’ve seen around
And I see trouble coming Bangin’ loud and I know
I know I’m gonna stick around anyway

Please tell me some more lies As if you’re telling the truth
And I know, I know I’m gonna believe in you anyway

I wanna ride on your pink cloud
Even though I know it’s going nowhere
And I know it’s gonna crash

Beaches alleys games and rollin’ in the grass
I got a feelin’ that it’s not gonna last
And I know I’m gonna be I’m gonna be the one to fall

Somethin’s locked you way down tight
You don’t even know you gave up the fight A long time ago

I wanna ride on your pink cloud
Even though I know it’s going nowhere
And I know it’s gonna crash

You’re the hottest thing I’ve seen around
And I see trouble comin’ bangin’ loud and I know
I know I’m gonna sitck around anyway

I bite my tongue and I pinch my lip
I kiss you hard and really quick
Cuz I know I’m soon gonna have to go

I wanna ride on your pink cloud
Even though I know it’s going nowhwere
And I know it’s not gonna last
I know I know I know
It’s not gonna last whoaaaa
I know I know I know
It’s not gonna last whoaaaa
I said I know I know I know ……. © L Phillips 2013
