Bio

Randy Stern has been a staple of the New York City indie music scene for over a decade. Most of this time has been spent sharpening his talent as singer, songwriter and guitarist for New York City's iconic underground rockers, The Nerve.

Over his ten year career with The Nerve, Randy cultivated a tremendous amount of growth and learning; musically, professionally, and personally. The Nerve self-released two albums, an EP, and three videos. Their third and final album was picked up by pioneering indie label, Heyday Records (Marty Willson-Piper, The Church, The Surfaris, David J). That album was produced by renowned guitar hero, Bumblefoot (Guns N' Roses). Subsequently, Randy was invited to play guitar in Mr. Foot's touring band for his 2005 tour of Europe. On December 16th, 2006 The Nerve played its final show in New York City.

In the short time since then, Randy has quickly established himself as a strong solo artist. Far from the punk/grunge leanings of The Nerve, Mr. Stern has evolved into a much more subtle sound and roots oriented approach. His new songs contain an elemental simplicity and maturity developed and expanded from his earlier period with the band. Songs such as "Home", "Into Your Heart" and "Better Days" reflect themes of redemption, empowerment, relationships, and hope in the face of adversity. His live performances have been described as heartfelt, immediate, and soulful.

Randy has just released his first solo album, "Give". The producer of the album is Hugh Pool, known for his work with Rufus Wainwright, Patti Smith, The National, Deborah Harry, and legendary blues artist Hubert Sumlin. Once again Randy is working with Heyday Records.

Randy Stern proudly endorses Martin Guitars, DiMarzio Pickups, and is a recipient of the Anna Sosenko Trust grant (2009) and two time recipient of the Broken Wing Foundation artist's grant (2007 and 2008).
