What is it that people love about Hip Hop? Is it the flow and lyrical complexity of the East? Is it the funk and musicianship of the West? Is it the fun and energy of the South? Can you imagine how potent an album that harnessed all of those things would be? Meet Ran… a.k.a. the dream artist. The man who according the Cincinnati Herald will “Run the City of Cincinnati”.

2006 was a busy year for Ran. He started the year with a trip to France to meet with International labels at the Midem Conference in Cannes. Upon returning from a successful trip, Ran released the song 6 minutes. The song was featured on 101.9 Wizf’s heat from the street and was an instant hit. After being featured during the station’s mix shows, Ran’s song tied with Lil Jon’s “Snap yo Fingers” on the Battle of the Beats. Leveraging the success of 6 Minutes, Ran followed up with a well received mixtape “The Steal”, which moved 2500 units in 2 months. Ran captivated audiences at numerous shows, including opening for artist like Paul Wall and Common. Ran is also a heavily sought after producer and songwriter, providing music for countless rappers, singers, and commercials in his region. The bulk of his time, however, has been dedicated to his own art, as he continuously records songs for his debut. Ran’s album is heavily anticipated by the multitudes of people who visit his Myspace page.

A product of Cincinnati, Ohio Tyran “Ran” Stallings had his first song hit the radio in 3rd grade and hasn’t looked back since. A talented producer, and songwriter, Ran is the complete package who looks to other Cincinnati icons like Bootsy Collins, The Isley Brothers, L.A. Reid to model his career after. “A man like L.A. Reid is great inspiration to me. I know what it is to try to make it coming from Cincinnati. Looking at the level of success he has attained both musically and in business makes my pursuits seem realistic.” “…the common denominator that all legendary artists share is relevance. Their music is timeless and that’s what I want to emulate; timeless music, the kind of music that sparks a feeling as soon as you hear it.” Ran’s style is sure to become the ideal Midwest sound; a perfect blend of Hip Hop’s many voices.

With 2007 arriving, Ran is steadily moving into the ranks of the music industries top hit makers. With label interests growing, an album nearing completion, a demand for his production and songwriting, and an R&B project in production with his artist Ellis, Ran stands ready to do his part in propelling Ohio’s music scene back to its legendary status. Look for Ran to be featured on mixtapes around the nation and abroad, and performing across the country. “2007 is my year, a year of completion. I worked long, hard and honest to reach my goals. I’ve paid my dues. Being from Cincinnati and pursuing a career in music is an up hill battle…you have to work twice as hard. I’m coming to get what I’ve worked for.”
