Bio

Rapper Big Pooh knows the meaning of hard work. One of three children raised by a single parent mother in Northern Virginia, he saw his mother work two jobs at a time to support her family. It is that same work ethic that keeps him busy penning verses as one half of the rap duo Little Brother and also as a solo emcee. Since a chance meeting with future group member, Phonte of Little Brother, back in 1998 he knew music would always be a part of his life. Along with Phonte and 9th Wonder (9th split from the group in 2007), he formed the rap group Little Brother in 2001 and released their debut album The Listening in 2003 on ABB Records. Shortly after touring for the Little Brother project, Rapper Pooh returned to the studio to work on his craft and improve as an emcee. After steadily hearing improvement, manager Big Dho urged him to make a solo album of his own. From that material, Sleepers was created and then released in 2005 on 6 Hole/Hall Of Justus. Little Brother then released their second album, The Minstrel Show, in 2005 on Atlantic records. After touring the world and countless guest appearances Rapper Big Pooh returned to the studio once again to work on another solo album as well as the next Little Brother album, Getback. Little Brother, minus 9th Wonder, released their third studio album Getback in October of 2007 on ABB Records.

Now poised to have as much success as a solo emcee as he has had with Little Brother, Rapper Pooh has readied himself to release a bevy of material to the masses. Last September he released the free download Rapper’s Delight with Mick Boogie and DJ Warrior. Fresh off the release of the street album Delightful Bars in stores and exclusively on iTunes (Feb/May 2009), Pooh is now poised to release plenty of music within the next few months. Reservoir Dogs Mixtape (joint effort with fellow artist; Joe Scudda, Chaundon and Jozeemo), The Purple Tape with Black Milk and DJ Jaycee (Ludacris’ DJ), and his official sophomore effort, Dirty Pretty Things with the help of Grammy nominated producer Young RJ. With a slue of new material on the way, this looks like the start of a new beginning for Rapper Big Pooh.

Pooh is influenced musically by a wide range of artist. He sites Prince, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, EPMD, Ice Cube, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and John Coltrane as just a few of his favorites. He draws from his own life experiences as the source for his material.
