Who is Tippy? Born Andre Wilson, he is a laid back individual with unique rhyme and delivery styles unmatched by anyone in the music game. Born in Columbus, GA, he combines the rare combination of artist, producer, writer, and performer all in one package. In his development of the love of music, he was influenced by Young Jeezy, T.I., Snoop Dog, Dr. Dre, as well as many others. Tippy has always had a love for music and an interest in expanding his musical horizon. Formerly known as Top Notch, Tippy won multiple freestyle battles, while in high school. It was then that he decided to pick up a pen and pad to develop his talent. However, surrounded by bad influences outside of the home, Tippy dropped out of high school at the age of 17. Determined not to let that be his final chapter, he worked hard and studied, earning his GED by the time he turned 18 years old. I learned that I cant be a quitter, Tippy said when asked what he learned from dropping out of school. Tippy grew up the oldest of three with the major responsibility of taking care of his younger siblings. Soon after moving to Atlanta, he was performing live under the stage name Tippy. A few shows quickly turned into weekly performances at the famous Throwbacks Night Club in Atlanta, where he found an eager audience, and the music industry discovered a new talent. As well as winning an immense number of Open Mic and talent contest on the outside of 285, he jumped into the city with the same successes winning Battleground Monday hosted by 107.9. No stranger to struggle and the hard knocks of life, Tippy says his music is for everyone. Instead of professing to be a gangster or hood rapper, he simply speaks and writes from a humbled heart. He puts out lyrics designed to touch all who listen. Dont be fooled, while he can have a quiet and shy persona, Tippy makes his presence known the minute he steps on stage. His performances are both captivating and sure to be remembered by all who are able to see and hear him.
