Bio
Rarity Affect is a beautiful work in progress. This 3-man New Age
alternate/punk rock band has come a long way since its formation
less than three years ago. Its 17-year-old founders, Rick Goud and
Justin Simonelli, met as sophomore English students at San Clemente
High School, never thinking for a second that they would end up
playing in a band together. While Simonelli attempted to sleep
through class, Goud tossed paper and kicked his desk until finally
they started talking. Eventually the subject of music came up, and
their mutual interests in genres and bands set the stage for future
jam sessions in Simonellis garage. Brandon Richter, a fellow
San Clemente High student and seasoned hard core drummer,
joined the group and brought dynamic new ideas to the jam.
When it was time to name the band, with random abandon they
came up with Rarity Affect, and the name stuck. It took six months
to get the money together for a recording session, and the group
cut its first three songs at Sound Matrix Studios. The band was invited
to play a show at Hogue Barmichaels, and Rarity Affect was officially
a part of the LA /Orange County music scene. A couple weeks later,
they played their second live show to a huge crowd, and suddenly they were in demand. Each member of Rarity Affects brings a completely different style to the stage. Theirs is a unique friendship, and their sound is equally unique. With catchy lyrics, awesome drum work and sick solos, the band soon lived up to its distinctive name. Goud, Simonelli and Richter all share a dream of making music their lives, and each is willing to sacrifice to make
the dream a reality. Having played repeatedly at most venues throughout Orange County, Rarity Affect is a hit with the fans. This hot group is determined to build their sound and create even newer music for the ears of its appreciative audience.
