Ras Daniel, is a controversial figure within the reggae world. First time listeners automatically, mistakenly assume he is from the islands.

Ras Daniel is an American Born, Jewish, Rastafarian of Eastern European Decent, currently living in Massachusetts.

His musical stylings stem from a growing frustration within the current trends of global domination by greedy, corporate interests. Being in the "belly of the beast" illuminated many insights into the true spiritual nature of mankind.

His music reflects these insights and calls out for a rising up of all peoples of the earth to stand firm in consciousness, positive action, and upright living.

Ras Daniel is a multi-talented Recording Artist, Percussionist, Producer, Photographer, Glass Blower and vocalist still unsigned with two street albums Versions and Youths Rise. Ras Daniel has worked with such artists as Sistah Joyce, Highah Seekah, Daddy Lion, Ras Mento, Black Rebels, One Band Intnl, King Alpha and others

He can be found on such riddims as Mad Notes, Cry Baby, World Jam, Talking Drum, River Nile, Bobo Dread and many other new and classic crucial cuts. Ras Daniel is also the percussionist for the afro breakbeat dance band The5thPocket (the5thpocket.com) LIVE SHOWS @ ARCHIVE.ORG

Ras Daniel born Daniel A Rosen of Northampton MA has a B.A in Political Ethnology and Cultural Artistic Expression from The University of MA He studied percussion with Master Drummer and Yoruba Priest Joe Platz as well as extensive training in Ghana. He lived in Ghana for about eight months where he developed relationships with a number of artists and musicians.
Ras Daniel is a self proclaimed Rasta however labels and titles are of little significance. "Rastafari is not a label for scrutiny, its not my title or a statement of some dogmatic, religious ideologies yuh know, Rasta is a true Livity, yea the livity of InI King, a divine conception of InI heart. Yea Rastafari to be born again in spirit, so Me praise Jah, not in image but in spirit yuh know cuz JAH LIVE ."

Ras Daniel began exploring his vocal talents in 2000, chanting over what ever riddims local soundsystems would play. He has done some live freestyle sessions with DJ Camilo of Iganic Sounds and Revelation Sounds with DJ Theory and Kultjah, and for some time chanted for Negus Sounds a short lasting project of his own with DJ Kultjah.
