"Rashad and Confidence Element of Suprise Review. Completely overlooked album"

Please leave your thoughts and suggestions. I feel like this album is criminally unknown and overlooked. If you have read any of my reviews you know I am not an extremely lenient critic, this album is just that good. It gives me the same feeling of Blu & Exile’s Below the Heavens but with a little more grit. Please leave any comments and suggestions. Most importantly cop this album now and give it a good listen!! Also, check out Lethal Lyricism when you get a chance! Thank You! - Rap Genius

"Rashad-Pass Me By"

Brooklyn?s own and my personal pick for the dopehouse?s (2)Dope Music Submissions Take 2 unleashes something new (finally!) off his upcoming album out on Ill Adrenaline, entirely produced by Confidence (peep his 90s Classics Remixed project too). - 2DopeBoyz

"Rashad and Confidence-Understand"

Every so often on Pandora a song plays that really doesn’t fit the mold of what I’m listening to, but it still instantly inspires me to search for more information on that artist. That’s exactly the feeling I got when I first heard hidden gem Understand, the new single and first DJBooth feature by producer/rapper duo Rashad & Confidence. With Confidence handling the boards, Understand is a smooth and head-nodding boom-bap record that Rashad rides like Ron Turcotte rode Secretariat (look it up). Rashad’s focus is clear as he spills his heart and educates the listener on the effort and dedication it takes to become a true emcee. Juggling the balance of making records he enjoys while not selling out or listening to the critics is a challenge Rashad discusses, while also facing the temptation of the glamour and glitz associated with pop-friendly records. Understand is the latest release from the duo’s The Element of Surprise album (the cover of which pays homage to Lord Finesse & DJ Mike Smooth’s Funky Technician), which dropped on November 19. Feeling Intrigued? Then why not check out some album snippets - DJ Booth

Bio

Rashad and Confidence linked up in late 2010. Rashad had heard a song Confidence had remixed on his mixtape, "Recon." From there Rashad reached out to Confidence on Myspace.com. Rashad's main intention was to purchase a beat but once Confidence hear his voice and delivery, he knew that something much more could come of this.

The two decided that an album would be much more beneficial. From there the two of them spent countless hours writing rhymes and crafting the perfect instrumentals to compliment each other. Towards the end of 2011, "The Element of Surprise" was released with open arms. Thanks in part by FatBeats on the distribution side, Rashad and Confidence were able to reach people with their sound worldwide. The album was voted one of the top albums of 2011 on many blog sites and was featured on 2DopeBoyz, Djbooth among coutnless others.

Seven months later since it's release, Rashad and Confidence still get contacted almost daily from fans all over the world who give the album such high praise.

The two artists wanted to make an album that reminded them of the Golden Era but also giving listeners something new to listen to. For fans who yearn to hear Gangstarr and Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth, this was the perfect sound.
