Bio

Rashad"thaPoet" is an activist, actor and an award winning Spoken Word Artist hailing from Nashville, TN. He came onto the Spoken Word scene in May 2005 with the critically acclaimed album "Witness to the Truth". Rashad followed that album with June 2005's Witness to the Truth (the mixtape). Rashad was one of the first spoken word artist to release an all spoken word mixtape. In November of the same year he released" Vol.2 the Love Session" and then in July of 2006 he finished up the series with "Vol.3 the Trilogy". Rashad went on to pair with hip-hop producer Shae Jones in January to create 2007's "Slept on Album of The Year" "Listen: Mind over Matter". In August of 2007 Rashad and Soul producer BronHoward paired up to create "BronHoward's: Fifteen-Twenty" a creative blend of soul, hip-hop and spoken word. May 2008 brought the highly anticipated "Talk to the People". The lead single "Feeling Good" was called "a classic and nostalgic Nashville summer jam", by a journalist in "The Rage". Off the success of the single, Rashad became the first Nashville Spoken Word artist to shoot a video. He also was the first Nashville Spoken Word artist to sell over 10,000 albums. The 2008 "Talk to the People Summer Tour" hit over 30 cities and Rashad solidified himself as one of the front runners in the Spoken Word genre. "I try to do things differently as far as using the live band, with background singers and high energy. I want people to enjoy what I'm doing so we push the boundaries with our shows. Most people aren't use to spoken word being like this, but once they get a taste they can't deny it.To date Rashad has sold over 20,000 albums independently. He has released 13 CD's. His newest effort "Hope Lives Here" is coming early fall.
