Bio

Rashon Alexander was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1976 when I think the funk era of music was in it prime. I grew up around nothing but talented musicians. When you hang around that much talent at that time I had no other choice but to play something. It wasn't until I was about 14 that I wanted to pursue an instrument seriously because I was always into sports heavy so music wasn't an priorty in my life. The summer of 1990 I will never forget when I went to stay with my uncle Donnell in Willingboro NJ for 2 months and told him what I wanted to do. With no hesitation he began to teach me bass guitar. The only thing the bass was right handed and I am left handed. To get over the the obstacle I just flipped the bass upside down and began to learn in a way that was comfortable for me. As I started to learn I would get frustrated at him because I wanted to learn how to play songs. He would do nothing but show me how too play 1-3-5 patterns which was boring too me. Just that little teaching taught me alot because now I am able to play just about any style of music you could think about. With my experience over the years, it has taught me a valuable lesson about how to be humble. There were many times I was told this gift wasn't for me and to try something else. God told me otherwise. On the flipside of that note the gift was taken from me because of me misusing my gift and being disobedient to God's calling on my life. I never forget my good friend's Vernon Crowe and James Perry told me don't let people dictate your life. different After about a 2 and a half year hiatus from music all together with my prayers to God he gave me my Love for music back but with a vengence. With that in mind that led me to perform for and share the same stage with some of Gospel and R&B's biggest artists.Yolanda Adams, Vickie Winans, Israel and New Breed, Judith-Christie Mcallister, Richard Smallwood, Deitrick Haddon, Victor Wooten,Anthony Wellington,Jimmy Haslip, Gerald Veasley, David (Mr.Brown)and Tamala Mann from The Tyler Perry production plays and formerly of Kirk Franklin and the Family, Carlton Pearson, Tye Tribbett and GA, Vincent Walker and TOJ Cheryl"Pepsi" Riley and Stephen Hurd,Omarion, Silk, Keith Sweat, William Murphy III, Keith Washington, Flash(From the movie Five Heart Beats) Rev. Milton Biggham, BoneCrusher, and Carmen Chiles. I've worked as the bassist for the Life Story of Marvin Gaye and many other of Nolbert Brown's production plays. I currently endorse M bass guitars from Conneticut, Gruv Gear Carts and Accugroove Cabinets. With out God and I wouldn't be doing this today.
